The black body and yellow markings on its hood indicates its a forest cobra. Highly venomous but bites are rare because as the name implies, they're mainly found in dense forest. They avoid urban areas or human settlements.

They are very common in nigeria. Check the map distribution in second oix

Handling snakes immediately after killing is extremely dangerous. Snakes can still bite even after being killed...

how would a dead snake bite ? Anything dead is no longer a living thing . It can only respond to stimuli when it is not completely dead even when the head is cut off .

snakes can still bite even when dead. Snake bites are reflex actions and not totally controlled by the snakes. After killing a snake, u will discover that the body still wriggles. Ask yourself why. Those periods the body still moves after being killed, the snake could bite until rigor mortis sets in or the head is cut off.

I understand the point you are trying to make. Even , the head can bite when cut off . If a snake can still wriggle when you assume it is dead , then it is not dead @least completely . I will take your words so as not to prolong this . Cheers 🥂

snakes do wriggle for hours after death. Understand my point clearly not vaguely. A dead snake can still bite.
