Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has condemned the renewed wave of terrorist attacks in parts of his constituency, describing the situation as “deeply worrisome” and unacceptable.

The lawmaker, in a statement on Thursday, said four farmers were gruesomely murdered by Boko Haram insurgents while working on their farmlands in Kwam village, near the Dille community in Askira-Uba Local Government Area.

According to Ndume, the victims were attacked while harvesting their crops — a development he said underscores the deteriorating security situation in remote communities that have remained vulnerable despite years of military operations.

“I am very much perturbed over the renewed attacks by Boko Haram terrorists in some parts of my constituency in the last week.

“These attacks led to the killing of four farmers while harvesting their crops in Kwam village, near Dille community of Askira- Uba local government area."

The senator added that the killings were not isolated incidents, noting that the insurgents had intensified assaults across multiple communities.

“Just last week, a Church and other infrastructures in Pemi were set ablaze, and yesterday (Wednesday), there were reports of Boko Haram invasion in the Shikarkir community of Chibok local government area in Borno state,” Ndume lamented.

He criticised the inability of security operatives to consistently safeguard remote settlements, saying the absence of a sustained security presence has emboldened insurgents to carry out attacks without resistance.

“The situation is worrisome. This is because the inability of security agencies to man such remote communities in my constituency have led to the increase in attacks without confrontation,” he added.

Addressing APC supporters on the need to deliver votes, Tinubu said handsome cash rewards await those who can deliver votes for the party.

He said he would not make mistakes of the past where people would collect money in advance and not deliver on election day.

Tinubu added, “Those of you that say you come to Bourdillon for mobilisation, it is mobilisation that we are doing here or don’t you understand? Definitely, if you know people in your neighbourhood, our members, how we used to do.

Systematic violence against Nigerian Christians by Fulani herdsmen constitutes genocide, according to a leading Catholic bishop who stressed that Muslims are also falling foul of the violence. Following the execution of five aid workers by Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP), Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of Sokoto told Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) he believed the recent violence was genocidal in nature.

When asked whether he agreed that that Fulani killings of Christians can be categorised as genocide according to international law, he said: “I believe so”.
