Orinechi:So Wike as well cannot argue the validity of the documents to the land at the appropriate quarters instead of jumping into convoys to the site? It takes two to tango bro! Don't be one sided on this case...Wile is totally wrong on this. |

Some people blame Wike for his choice of words towards the officer, Some blamed him BCS they hate him with person seen him working with Tinubu but in reality Wike is 100% right to inspect the site based on his obligation as see in see of the federal capital . He has right to investigate and decide what happens based on the law that govern FCT once he remains the Minister of FCT. |

ALTERNATEID:There are soldiers protecting properties of important government officials in every major city in Nigeria. If you don't know this then you prfob live in Nigeria. Even politicians travelling to the north have military details on their convoy....I'm talking about senators and reps member who ordinarily should use the police. Why are we suddenly acting surprised because a few soldiers were sent to guard a generals property? Sorry but the ideal situation is different from what is on ground |

adekolaelect:Wike did not come to inspect anything. He came to play “voltron, defender of the universe.” If you read the thread properly, you’d see that even an FCDA official apologized for dragging Wike into the conflict in the first place. Here’s what actually happened: 1. FCDA moved in with bulldozers to demolish an allegedly illegal structure belonging to a retired Air Vice Marshal. 2. Soldiers guarding the property blocked them, refusing the officials and their equipment access. 3. FCDA then called in their ‘superhero’ - Wike, who they believe commands his own troops and walks around with “odeshi”—would force his way through. 4. Wike stormed the site with his entourage and thugs, expecting the military to back down. 5. The commanding lieutenant refused to budge. 6. Borroring some common sense or simply due to fear he backed off. 7. On his way out, he resorted to personal insults before retreating. The core issue remains: the property is disputed. The Air Vice Marshal insists he bought it from the rightful allotee. Only a court can confirm or reject that claim. And that’s the point: FCDA has no authority to roam around with caterpillars, demolishing people’s properties without a court order. The rule of law doesn’t disappear just because the minister shows up with muscle. |

kilmot:The General resorted to self help instead of providing his land documents. I believe he humiliated the military & gave Wike the opportunity to dishonour the military uniform. The officer was on illegal duty. Irrespective of how we intend to glorify him, the truth is obvious. |

kinguwem:Unfortunately, it was Wike we saw on camera been embarrassed and left with shame. He shouldn't have been there himself, the Court is there. You don't solve problem with problem. I'm not supporting anyone taking land illegally but I won't support rascality as well. Wike should go to court. |

bewla:The military have a tradition you should try and learn, a senior is a senior whether retired or not. The best approach is to meet the C-in-C to mediate, that way, nobody is embarrassed and the public would not have known. I don't support land grabbing and I won't support rascality as well. The minister acted foolishly that's why even fellow minister are cautioning him. No military officer serving or retired will support Wike actions. That is why it's said to be a national threat. We should be both objective and diplomatic in approach. |

ALTERNATEID:The major problem of the Nigerian masses today is the “enemy of my enemy’s syndrome” Our sense of judgment automatically becomes warped the moment we realized that the persons involved in an incident are not our favorites. What many Nigerians failed to realize is that we are setting a very dangerous precedent and encouraging impunity and gross lawlessness. A private soldier and his ‘retired’ boss had no right to stop a whole minister from exercising his power. In sane countries, police have the right to arrest an erring military officer but since we are in a country of “do you know who I am?” , anything goes as long as you know someone who knows someone. Yerima wasn’t brave, he had people behind him. |

ALTERNATEID:If they met resistance as claimed, the ideal thing to do is to record it for evidence and then escalate through proper channels. In this case, the Minister would have simply called the Chief of Defense Staff or Chief of Naval Staff and reported the issue for investigation. He had already been warned of resistance, so what was he going there to do? To confront them with superior firepower or what? |
| Re: FCTA Apologises To Wike Over Open Spat With Naval Officer, Insists Disputed Land by Orinechi: 3:20pm On Nov 15, 2025 |
paxonel:They shouldn't have resolved anything. The owner of that land should have done the needful. If Wike had called the chief of naval staff, they would have resolved the issue but that would have amounted to allowing someone to build a residential house where is never meant to be. That is how corruption is encouraged by those who say they detest it. Wike came when he was called that some miscreants are preventing his staff from doing their legitimate duty. Besides, why should the officer obey an illegal order? |

kilmot:The video by the IGP predates this interaction and I believe it was in response to private individuals who demolished houses with the aid of unscrupulous officers. The IGP can't by law claim that he'll deny a government authority police protection while enforcing the laws that guide them, he can be punished under civil service rules for that. But we are in Nigeria where all our things are upside down. |

Nukilia:That is the real problem you assume that by defending what is right one is sympathetic to the political class. If and when they abuse their office we'll also apply the appropriate criticism that I'd how law and order works. |

A lot of Nigerians think upside down. Former president Obasanjo's wife mini estate in lifecamp Abuja was locked by efcc. He did not use military to take the estate back. It's only president Obasanjo that understand what military's job is. During his time he built barracks at the boarder and took them all there. cos the military is external security not internal security, only in Marshall law a soldier has business with internal security. A police man can arrest a soldier misbehaving in civilian population. Just a phone call the police will solve all that drama. So disappointed seeing how Nigerians are praising the soldier.Soldiers are to only protect the country from external aggression not protecting a land for christ sake. I cry for my country ALTERNATEID: |

Burob:/ Lolz. People like you are online quoting laws and Constitution up and down while those in power do what they want. Ever wonder why Nigeria is referred to as a lawless society? Government routinely disobey court orders that don't suit them. So much for your Constitution and laws ![]() Those lands belong to the retired and current high-ranking military officials. Wike cannot revoke that land. Even if he tries, only a slowpoke will accept the reallocation and try to develop it. The best he can do is quietly issue them the R of O. Tinubu is wise. Wike tried that nonsense with Mrs Rita Lori and got shut down. Go back to the video and listen carefully to Wike's phone call. Did you hear how he addressed the person on the other line? That should tell you all you need to know ![]() Henceforth you will never hear about this matter again. It will be resolved quietly away from public curiosity. / |
