A Protest To Nairaland Over Inequality And Injustice by the Forum by runningriot(op): 7:31pm On Nov 14, 2025
It is unfortunate that I am writing this with a heavy heart and broken spirit. Because Nairaland is becoming like an Animal Farm where other animals are treated more equal than others! If I may ask what are the criteria and protocols that is needed to push news and articles to the front page? in natural rule of life, it is "first come, first serve" but Nairaland is constantly trying to remind me of how a part is trying to represent a whole! yes a personified example of synecdoche in Nigeria context. We are quick to speak about how Nigeria and her institutions has failed but our one time darling Nairaland full of ecstasy and life has dwindled that if you want to define a failed state without equity and justice the analogy should be perfectly tailored and fit to it.

Severally, myself and many others will be the first to post a particular news but it will either not be made to the front page or will be flagged or censored! But some particular members will post it later and it will be given a lavender or red carpet welcoming salutations to the front page. Nairaland ought to be a personified example of equity and justice even in law when to rights exists the first preside or prevail but here we have selective flowers that bloom in the garden than others. Like today I posted an article on Wike backtracking and backpedaling that he did not mean to call Officer Yerima a fool the article was titled "Wike Makes U-turn Says He Never Meant to Call the Officer a Fool" around 9:16 am in the morning but did not make the headline or front page. However, when same article with the title "Wike Denies Calling Yerima A Fool" (Video) - By: Saphiere around 3:55 pm it made the front page this is totally condemnable. If at all there are some form of procedure and criteria for any news to be pushed to the front page it should be clearly spelt out to all members.

If actions are not taking and the owner of Nairaland Seun Osewa as well the two notable moderators: fergie001 and Mynd44 do not retrospect, change and walk the talk with immediate actions I am telling you should in case Nairaland have a strong competitor in the future that picture the visibility and viability of equity and justice then this forum will crash and as an ardent and a die hard fan and member of this forum it will hurt my soul and break my spirit. So please, let equity and justice prevail, it must be this or nothing short of it "first come, first serve". Thanks and Peace!

Topics that make it to FP depends on how organized the post is, the source and sometimes there are some people known to be posting news, those ones have some sort of privilege against other
Re: A Protest To Nairaland Over Inequality And Injustice by the Forum by brain54(m): 7:53pm On Nov 14, 2025
I think it's fair to give those known for posting that slight privilege...

That's when the posts are made at a similar time.

Not 6 or 7 hours later though.

And I have also seen less organized posts make FP ahead of the organized ones.

I think priority can be given sometimes when the timing is similar as I said earlier but the mods can also do better and be fairer.

It would also encourage new regular posters!

Genuine questionhuh
Are they paying for posts that made headlineshuh

If someone has 50k likes on TikTok, he can apply for TikTok monetization but on nairaland 100k likes = zilch.

It is an advanced symptom of psychiatric disorders to tell a man how to run his house

I don't think this is about money, and I think the poster's point is a valid one.

I get that Nairaland might've recognized some people because they were always around and posted a lot back in the day, but if, like the poster said, there's such a huge time gap since the news was first posted, then I don't think it's fair to the person who posted it first.

Fair enough. Cos I rarely care if it makes frontpage or not😂 when I know I have nothing to gain or lose. Sometimes it hurts when one isn’t appreciated. I get your point.

..it has gone to the dogs..let me explsin what the Mods in cohort with tilumbu supporters do ..

..if you sre not a tilumbu supporter..& you are the first to create a thread with links that meets the prerequisite for a FP post...

..& if other Nairalanders who are not supporters of Tilumbu comment immediately after that post is created...such thread never makes it to the FP..because all the comments are against tilumbu's maladministration or are not in his favour...

..what the Mods in such case do is what you just described..they wait for a Tilumbu supporter to create thesame thread..

..after the creation...they inform their WhatsApp crew about the thread created by one of them...the Mods in this case hide the thread from the FP..giving Apple time for tilumbu supporters to flood the first Page of the thread.. cheesy

..after having the comments of most tilumbu supporter on the first Page of that thread...one of the biased Mods pushes that thread to the FP..ignoring the one that was first created by a non tilumbu supporter.. grin

..when the biased Mod have succeeded pushing the thrrad to FP...they generate likes for their comments with the help of a Nairaland Administrator..

grin grin grin

These accusations are not true.

I recently joined, but almost all my threads are moved to the front page almost immediately. I think the criteria are how organised your thread is and also the source.

Try to add pictures that relate to the topic you created.

And just mention the ever-ready and workaholic Nlfpmod.

And for the partial moderators when SimpleSeyi made that insensitive comment about me nobody talk or blacklisted him I can see a true Nigeria personified through this forum!

Why are we so entitled in this Nigeria?

If you don't like the way the place is moderated, move on quickly.

Why make grand announcements like this just to be noticed?

who is feeling entitled? Why can't you leap before you look? Who wants to be noticed? Look at glaring sycophancy! licking shoes of a paymaster just to be given flowers! Have you forgotten that Nairaland was created as a public forum for constructive contribution as well on the altar of equity and justice or is it anywhere in Nairaland that says others will be treated more equal than others why can't you attack the message rather than involving in Ad Hominem or Red herring even though I know you don't know this!. I can see why Nigeria is what it is? Sycophancy and injustice being celebrated...

Until all is well nothing is well! Go and check as well read my story or post on the same tread and do justice to the second person too and make your conclusions who is more detailed as well who has completed the sacred rules of journalism! The only difference is that I did not post the video and picture but left a link that has the details of the video which equally means you can watch and see the pictures because pictures are gotten from videos.

You will be well advised to go to Reddit or put up with Nairaland for its nuisance value. All the mods in here are good at doing is to hand out bans! They cannot stand criticism! Great reason why Nairaland is not valued more than it is presently!! Free speech orders the world not the other way around!

So much grammar over nothing.

It's a public forum owned by a private person ergo it's a private forum.

You don't like as the owners are treating you, log out and move on. Lots have done it here, I have done it in other forums.

Imagine giving the owner advice that they will lose members as if they don't know that.

Stop bleating like an entitled baby.

This is exactly what happens on Nairaland. APC laptop propagandist

generate likes
have their propaganda pushed to fp
have counter threads suppressed or banned

Seun, the ' like generator ' for mundane posts by APC supporters is back in full swing.

Above is why Nairaland is dying. When Nairaland came in 2005, it was able to attract millennials who were very curious to just express themselves on the internet. However, those millennials are now middle aged men and women with pressures and responsibilities. They cannot keep up with social media trends like before.

So, in come the GenZs. In this their era, just the curiosity to express themselves on the internet is not enough as they were born straight into an internet world. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tik Tok all understood this change and therefore used the monetization of content creation to attract and retain GenZs to their platforms. So, they rather spend their time on such platforms that allow them to monetize their time than on a forum where you have to write and write without any monetary benefits.

To make matters worse, the forum is over-moderated. You can’t speak your truth without getting banned. What I can say freely on twitter with my name and picture on my profile, I can’t say same thing on an anonymous forum. So, where is the freedom of expression that the forum is supposed to offer? Instead of Seun and his team to listen and take corrective actions, they will quickly delete sensible criticism and ban the handle. Well, his loss anyway.

You don't expect me to support you when what is said is false. I just told you the criteria and qualities a post should have in order to be moved to the front page.

You just agreed that you didn't add any pictures in your thread, but only provided a link, which in most cases is not allowed.

You didn't do the right thing, and you're complaining.

But the link was there and more so I want to ask how many countless post on different occasions even when the post meets all the requirements and protocols and was first post are not pushed to the front page? But contrarily, when some particular group of people post same news or articles it will be quickly push to the front page? Whether you like it or not there is selective and special treatment in this forum.

90% of topics that make it to FP are copy pasta that were lifted and straight up plagiarized from external publishing sources.

The OP is lamenting that his own copy pasta never gets pushed or is quickly shut down in preference to another similar copy pasta thread with the exact content as his.

Why is the OP ranting ?

Because he would have preferred his IPOB/Obidient mob first page posters version of same topic be moved to FP so as to amplify their own narrative .

FP topics get a lot of traction per viewers and comments and even so, the first page of an FP thread is were one can amplify the narrative and get the maximum engagement.

If a BATist opens similar topic , the narrative will spin differently than if an IPOB/Obidient creates similar topic .

Also, Obidient are known to create a thread and tag their fellow obidients to spin a narrative and use the topic as an opposition talking point.

So have no pity for the OP who is not only threatening NL downfall because his copy pasta plagiarized thread never got to FP so as to use it to spin their daft opposition narrative.

Oya, see my new thread created this morning on the front page. Arrange your post neatly and add pictures related to the topic. Try to make it not look like a tribal thread, post it in the right section. If it's a crime-related post, post it in the crime section.
