this is a good initiative from Lagos the centre of excellence. I can already see hordes of economic migrants from across the Niger crying out their eyes out occupying the first page…every news about Lagos Yorubaland makes them green with envy. We don’t share ancestry, customs, traditions, language nor do we share border, but they have made themselves the mouth piece and spokeperson of the people from Lagos they even know our history more than they know their own history….as a Yoruba man of the Egba extraction from Lagos I say this is a welcome development even though I as a person and indigene haven’t benefited anything from the state govt though my sister benefited from the bursary in lasu during her days as a law student. I hope this will be beneficial to the larger indigenous people at large eko oni baje oo ![]()

LagosOrigin:I've been campaigning for this for years and it's a welcome development and a shame for the no man's land crew. This is just the beginning. Lagos is the United States of the Yorubas. It's easier for an Adelabu or Osunkemi from igbokoda or Ijebu ode to claim indigenship of lagos than okechukwu from Agulu village. I don't need to say more than that. This is one of the take aways from the last meeting of Yoruba Governors. Let the no man's land crew continue to irritate their host. More laws are coming to reset your brain. Now that Ondo is becoming the next investment destination in Nigeria after lagos, with the new privately owned refinery, the second largest in Africa after Dangote, the first methanol factory in Nigeria, free trade zone, incoming lagos -Calabar Superhighway passing through Ondo Coastline, privately owned Sea port under construction, and one of the most peaceful communities in Africa, i will suggest the Ondo Government borrow a leaf from lagos before the no man's land crew arrives in Ondo. Ondo has the largest coastline in West Africa. |

LagosOrigin:indigine-ship is useless while residency is everything. Residency is both your passport to demand services and accountability from govt and is your obligation to pay taxes and obey the laws of the state. |

christopher123: NwOSU face your biafla, ijebu people are indigenous to Lagos, so are Egba, awori, Egun, ijesha etc they are all Yoruba sub groups from other part of Yorubaland, so what does it matter to you? Are they not all Yorubas? Btw I’m proudly a yorubaman of Egba extraction from Lagos, before you start crying ![]()

Most people of Yoruba land have mixed and intermarired with Awori and other indigene groups for centuries. Why are some people getting so excited 😆. You won't develop high BP over Lagos and Yoruba. Say Amen. |

malali:If push comes to shove (which has already started) we the Yorubas will commence constitutional amendments to introduce restrictions and safeguards to prevent and minimise economic scavengers from other regions (especially the particular loudmouthed one well known to the Yorubas). |

ibedun:Lol economic scavengers ![]() These are the people paying tax, where Lagos state gets its revenue. You think Lagos state is spending its inheritance money ? |

Everyone should calm down, we all have 4 grandparents. Nothing wrong with being an indigene of 4 different geopolitical areas. Just start mixing and the issue will resolve itself. Imagine me with 16 great great grand parents from different states ![]() |

ibedun: Lagos is federal territory just like Abuja. The price Lagos will pay forever for all those free federal assets and institutions left behind is to accommodate everyone. Imagine telling people to leave Abuja if they change the federal capital to plateau......lol |
| Re: Lagos Launches Digital Indigeneship Certificate by ibedun: 2:48pm On Nov 14, 2025 |
malali:Powerless empty rant! Show me where the constitution supports this rubbish claim. Sounds like MNK shouting in distress “YOU DONT KNOW LAW” Shebi the FG appointed Ndi Homeless to come and monitor where federal joint assets and institutions are located, and to make useless pronouncements, Abi? |

LagosOrigin:Humour me by telling me how someone with a Lagos state address and a Yoruba name wouldn't get this certificate? I can also tell you now that Ndi North with a Muslim name or two will be able to get this certificate. Unfortunately, South South people will be caught in this net that has been cast as a result of Ndigbo Obidient misbehavour pre and post elections. A real shame but somewhat understandable. Ndi Yoruba putting people in their place, after election noise, and you are pointing fingers at Ndi Yoruba in ala Yoruba. Nor go cover ya yansh wey dey smell oo, you hear. |

| Re: Lagos Launches Digital Indigeneship Certificate by aswani(m): 11:14am On Nov 15, 2025 |
Thewesterner:Your mistake is in thinking that Obidient cares to read anything? You clearly and proudly stated your state but this oga has come here, or more likely been sent here, to make claims about Ndi Yoruba and Lagos. Obidients are now reaping the rewards of abusing and insulting Ndi Yoruba and àlá Yoruba because Peter Obi contested for and lost an election. They are now thankfully, and in a dignifying manner as well, being firmly put in their place. By the way. Ọmọ Ogun ìṣẹ yà! |
