This write up seems too elementary and you the Op concentrated on theatrics alone and left one simple thing many in the media have called "insult".

The mere fact that Leut. Yerima had his hands in both of his side pockets and later had them both clasped together in front of him all in the video shows that there would not be any physical confrontation from him even if was physically assaulted.
So I'd assume the security detail and DSS officers guarding the FCT Minister had no reason to panic.
The Op is wrong in saying they stood like morons or some sort of he truly understands such things.

How on earth did his security details not sense that things may escalate quickly?
Some of them stood there foolishly while others were shoving each other back and forth..it was a show of shame.

Wike on the other hand is an arrogant person with Pharaoh’s complex who will never listen to anyone because he thinks he can order people around…imagine a scenario where during the shoving around a trigger happy police or naval combatant do the unthinkable it would be a bloodbath in that site.

I still cant help but wonder how one person keeps fighting with everyone as if he is the only minister in Nigeria.

We shouldn't anticipate what never happened.

The officer won't still take his hands off his pocket if Wike had physically assaulted him but we can't say for sure if an over zealous officer behind him won't pull a trigger.......

This one is just trying to second-guess the situation. Wike wasn't attached so he didn't need rounded protection, he was the one trying to bully the officer. If it was the other way round it a different case.

Does Wike even look like someone you can simply carry to safety without him opposing?

Nice article, but I think they did not anticipate characters like the FCT minister who may not always heed advice. Hence for me, security details should be able to directly challenge and refuse orders from politically exposed pers when needed

For instance I read that in the US, the SS can override the instructions of the president when such actions can prevent imminent danger to his life.

So in this case, that the security details allowed him proceed to the disputed venue is bad enough, but as things began to escalate and tempers flare, it was expected they immediately - physically, if need be - remove him from that environment.

So you want to physically remove a personality like Wike against his volation!!

As a security detail, it’s not your job to teach your principal how to do his work. A political figure with many years of experience should already know how to conduct himself in public and avoid embarrassing situations.

The examples the O.P gave are completely different from what happened with Wike. Your responsibility is to tactically shield your principal and ensure his safety when you sense real danger to his life.

But trying to “shield” someone like Wike from humiliation—especially when he is intentionally displaying power and authority—can cost you your job. Besides, his PA and advisers were right there with him, and none of them said or did anything.

Go and watch the video, you will see Wike shoving away one of his policemen that tried to restrain him.

While watching again, you will hear Wike bark orders to one of his policemen to arrest the soldier but the order faded into his barking because the police didn't obey him.

This gesture alone by Wike's own police is the reason why he's still alive to be doing damage control everywhere.

Kudos to that policeman.

2. Did you see how the minister was hitting his security details?
3. Do you think the minister will take any advise from his security.
