'No more impunity, I am equal to the task' – Newly-elected PDP Chairman, Turaki by Ofunaofu(op): 9:59am On Nov 16, 2025
The newly elected National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, has pledged to lead a comprehensive reform agenda aimed at restoring internal democracy, strengthening party unity and bringing an end to longstanding grievances within the party.

Delivering his acceptance speech on Saturday at the PDP national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, Turaki said he was fully aware of the enormity of the assignment before him but expressed confidence in the party’s ability to rebound.

“The cross you have given us means you expect us to carry it to the Nigerian people—and we will,” he told delegates. “We are not under any illusion that the task ahead is simple. Our party is at a crossroads, but we are equal to the challenge.”

The former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs said the new National Working Committee would soon unveil a detailed operational blueprint that would define the party’s direction over the coming months.

“Very soon, we shall be rolling out our guiding principles and the modus operandi for achieving them. Once that is done, we will hit the ground running from day one,” he said.

Turaki assured members that the mandate entrusted to him would not be taken for granted, insisting that the PDP’s strength lies in its grassroots support and the democratic ideals it was founded upon.

“Today, the Peoples Democratic Party remains the only political party that has retained its name since inception. That is because this party belongs to the Nigerian people,” he said. “Make no mistake—we are returning the party to the people. There will be no more impunity.”

Turaki emerged victorious at the national convention, where delegates from 17 states participated in electing new national officers. He secured 1,516 votes to clinch the chairmanship seat in the election held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.

Announcing the results, former Anambra Central Senator, Ben Obi, said Senator Yakubu Danmarke placed second with 275 votes. He also declared former Oyo State Deputy Governor, Taofeek Arapaja, as the newly elected National Secretary of the party.

A nigerian that will not support the emergence of this new PDP is rooting for the end of Nigeria because this is the best way forward for the future of Nigerian democracy because only a liar and an enemy of Nigeria will support the Wike faction but time will tell and the end result will decide the future of Nigeria as the history tells us the beginning of the end of democracy in the future past in Nigeria and something like that is already building up unless Tinubu can be wise enough to stop his military type of government and let the court let this original pdp stays but if not….the military are also against Wike too so a word is enough for a wise so Tinubu should not let too much power cautious do what happens tomAbacha happens to him too…the western world is seriously watching Nigeria now more than ever before

Makinde na smart man...retained National secretary position under his roof. Baba no wan hear ingbati ingbati l8r.
Seriously, PDP stands no chance again unless they can re-engineer a movement like Obi did in 2023.

Even some Governors still onboard will sell-out to save themselves and political survival is supreme to party loyalty.

Any attempt by Wike to destroy PDP will be Yerima.
Below pictures say it all. Yerima having conversation with Wike physically with his pocketed while on-phone he brought out his out as a sign of respect for CDS,General Oluyede. Dr Abati was right when he said "the humiliation of Wike"

With court injunctions to not hold convention they still went ahead...

It's going to play against them.

It's difficult if not impossible for pdp to bounce back and become a formidable party again!

He’s already cowed. The past few days and weeks have been rough for him. And on this particular issue, there’s absolutely nothing he can do about it. He remains expelled from the PDP. The decision stands and the best he can do is running back to the same familiar pattern of seeking court orders that never survive serious judicial scrutiny. The usual cash and carry court orders from justice omotosho and justice lifu
