kpiper2473:There is no separate application portal for the Canada CAN+ visa program. All applicants apply for a standard Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) through the regular online IRCC portal, and the system automatically screens all visitor applications for CAN+ eligibility. Applications that meet the program's criteria are then directed to a faster, expedited processing track. The criteria are based on a history of recent travel to Canada or a valid U.S. visa. |

nedum87:Create an account online and answer the questions truthfully . The process works like an if-else statement, so your answers will determine the documents the system asks you to upload at the end. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/accounts.html Do not pay an unlicensed Canadian visa agent ...they can ruin your application and your life. You can verify licensed consultants here if you have the money: https://register.college-ic.ca/Public-Register-EN/RCIC_Search.aspx else DIY.. no one knows your situation better than you. If you get stuck, you can ask questions here; someone will be able to help. After you submit, check your account from time to time for updates. You will see steps like: Biometrics Passport submission Etc. That’s the simple breakdown of the process.

However, that does not mean you cannot still provide it if you think it helps your case. A good option would be to get mybankstatement certificate from your bank (its a one-pager document) and upload that on "Additional Document" section as this would save you time of having to compress so many pages of printed bank statements. The Additional Document section is provided on the Portal in case of any other information the applicant in his/her judgement would help their case with the Consulate. In the event you think there is need for clarification, you can draft a Personal Statement (in formal letter style) addressed to Deputy High Commission of Canada and explain any other information you want to bring to the officer's attention. Though having a valid US visa does not guarantee approval, it gives some credibility to your immigration record (especially if you have used the visa i.e travel record in and out of the US) as Canada relies a lot on the United States intelligence and because of the risk assessment system between both countries. Employer Letter What you see is an explanatory notes using Canada as an example but i understand it could be confusing due to how it is worded. That section requires confirmation of employment from your current employer in Nigeria. Consent (Personal Information): Please ignore this section. This is only required if you have an IRCC consultant representing you or applying on your behalf. Link to mybankstatement info: https://www.visa-mybankstatement.com/ All the best! |

kpiper2473:Airlines don’t ‘cancel’ visas they just deny boarding. Then they contact IRCC, and if your story doesn’t add up,which in most cases IRCC side with airline then cancels the visa on their side instantly while it’s still in your passport, and you’ll only get the email later. Nobody is stamping anything. A visa is a privilege, not a right, and it can be withdrawn at any time, and no lawsuit can win that because you signed and agreed to the visa conditions. Attached is someone who was denied boarding in transit and sent back to Nigeria then visit visa canceled.

Sorry to hear about your wife. I hope she's getting the attention she needs. If you're still experiencing this issue, ask your wife who her MP is and send him an email explaining the situation. You can also find this info yourself if you know the postal code of where she lives. Check https://www.ourcommons.ca/members/en Provide details about your application, attach all relevant evidence, and indicate the residency status of your wife and daughter. MPs are usually very helpful in this regard. fastcars0000: |

mhoreh:It all balls down to Money how much you earn montly as a family Help us with more context What is your travel history? How much do you earn monthly? Let us look at it this way: If you earn 1 million naira per month, it would take you about one year to save 13 million naira. That calculation assumes you are not paying bills or any living expenses, which is unrealistic in Nigeria. Now, if you plan to spend a full year’s savings on a trip to Canada, it will not make sense to a visa officer. Why would someone spend an entire year’s income on a vacation? Also remember that flight tickets around this time of the year are expensive. On average, flights cost 900 CAD to 1,200 CAD during regular periods, and much more during festive seasons. For a family of three, with one child under 2 years old, you would only be paying for yourself and your wife. A round-trip ticket for both of you could cost around 4 million naira non festive period That leaves about 9 million naira from your savings. But the visa officer will still ask: Are you using almost your entire year's savings just to buy flight tickets for a 4-month trip? For a family of three, 13 million naira in savings is not considered strong enough, especially for a long trip. The officer likely felt that the funds were insufficient to support the travel. Yes, 13 million naira plus a mutual fund looks substantial, but “sufficient funds” are judged based on: 1. Cost of Travel– flights, accommodation, feeding, transportation, and daily expenses for the entire trip. A longer trip requires significantly more money. 2. Financial Stability – you must show that after paying for the trip, you still have enough funds left to support your normal life back home. 3. Monthly Income Patterns – it’s not just about how much you have saved, but how much money flows into your account consistently. 4. Naira Devaluation– unfortunately, the naira has lost so much value. Amounts that used to look strong no longer meet expectations. If you submitted a 6-month bank statement, the officer would check: Your opening balance, How much you received each month, and Whether your account shows consistent income and stability with relation to the employment letter you submited. For a young family from Nigeria, the officer may also consider risk factors, especially given the recent rise in asylum claims by Nigerians. It’s sad, but it affects visa outcomes. I’m sorry about the refusal. |

Good evening great people. I want to apply for a tourist visa. My first for Canada. I am seeing that there is an old portal and a new portal. Can I still apply using the old portal? The new portal seems not to be working well. They said it’s under maintenance. Your response will be appreciated. |

First of I’m the wife here and my husband and son are not travelling with me The money mentioned is my own money alone not my family money and it was supposed to be a 2 weeks trip At the moment I earn 1.2m per month, but like I said I had another side job that got me almost 9m extra reason I have such savings. My trip was estimated at a max of 5k CAD, which was very generous btw. I don’t think wanting to spend such is a problem I schooled in the UK and returned in 2016, I haven’t travelled since then. In 2015, I visited Ireland to see the same person that wrote the invite, that’s all about my travel history My childhood friend is providing accommodation, so my money was meant for just flights and shopping if I choose to. I submitted a letter from him and documents to back this up The feedback felt like the application wasn’t even opened at all, cos I have a 4 year old at home and husband, also I have a job but they claim I didn’t provide any of this amnotapervert: |

mhoreh:If everything you said is correct, then under normal circumstances your visa should be approved. But we are living in abnormal visa times, and you are holding a Nigerian passport double wahala. Canadian visa rejection rates are very high. IRCC has heard the “childhood friend/family friend will provide accommodation” story many times, and they currently have over 21,446 pending asylum cases. That’s the real issue here. Yes you are not looking to claim asylum but because currently 21,446 asylum cases are pending for Nigerinas you are already put inside the bucket sadly https://www.irb-cisr.gc.ca/en/statistics/protection/Pages/RPDStat2025.aspx From what you explained and based on the visa officer’s notes, you need to present a stronger case. Family members with PR or citizenship are usually the best option to provide accommodation, if possible. or if you hold a US Visa that's your best option. Make sure your account clearly shows all the money in your savings, including income from the side job you mentioned. You need to show a strong financial profile to IRCC meaning all money should be traceable from your main job, your side job, and any other sources into your savings. You have a good income, but ₦13 million in savings is not strong enough, even if you say you are only staying for two weeks. Try again, but increase your savings to around ₦23 million as a starting point. Track and document all your income sources properly main job, side job, and any gig work. If you need help, reach out to a licensed immigration consultant. They can look at your documents and guide you better. IMO. https://register.college-ic.ca/Public-Register-EN/RCIC_Search.aspx

But I have a 7k USD mutual fund so in actual fact I have like 23m, maybe the friend isn’t strong enough and unfortunately I do not have a brother or sister with PR or Citizenship, so I’ve decided to hold my side 😆😆😆😆 We were all here when they rejected an ED that has 100k USD savings, earns 18m and has a sick wife and child that are Canadian citizens They are not doing justice to the applications or simply do not want to give visas.. that’s it amnotapervert: |

mhoreh:It may be difficult to dissect what concerns the officer had with your application unless someone sits with you and check everything you declared but if you are patient to review it all again, you may see areas that can be improved. My educated guess may be that the officer was not convinced about some wordings in your letter of explanation. One thing that comes to mind is demonstrate good understanding about the city you are visiting and detailed itinerary where you intend to visit apart from just staying at your friends place. I would give you an example: It may be that you intend to visit a friend who is Canadian Citizen and resides in Edmonton. An itinerary can be drafted to say you plan visiting Elk Island National Park and wordings in respect of "exploring the rolling hills, glassy lakes which is 35 minutes east of Edmonton". Then something like" I love wildlife because it provides me with powerful images that help define the very essence of nature.....". You can then add something like "Its fun hearing the cry of a loon echoing across a lonely lake........." I stated the above just to give you some depths about the kind of research to make regarding your intended destination city/province to strengthen your purpose of visit and tie it to something you are passionate about and intend to see. it also strengthen that vibe you are a genuine visitor and knows very well about what you intend to do. You can also plan towards a popular holiday in Canada. Don't relax too much on the fact that a Canadian citizen would be accommodating you. Based on the info you provided. The green arrow per the screenshot is what you should select and not per red arrow. Whats that what you selected. All the best!

| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Sheron50: 6:06am On Nov 23, 2025 |
mhoreh:Honestly, we have ourselves to blame. Too many people abused the system, and even those who claimed asylum haven’t seen their families for 4 to 6 years yet they still don’t care. That’s why officers don’t trust strong funds or family ties anymore. And it’s not only Nigerians , Indians are also facing heavy refusals now. Canada is even considering stricter rules to reduce asylum abuse, especially for people who passed through ‘safe’ countries before arriving. Until trust is rebuilt, refusals will stay high. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by ATTAHDYE(m): 3:40pm On Nov 23, 2025 |
Left for me, I asylum should be offered by host countries to people who they think are in danger. People should not be allowed to deliberately abuse a system at the expense of those who may need it. Sheron50: |

It's really crazy my people, I was the one who got refused with all funds available, in fact I decided to just wait for the spousal sponsorship instead, I had to apply for it just the time it takes was my issue but I have no choice because I had must visit my family. With how sick my wife was , in fact I nearly lost my 2 years old daughter who is Canadian while the mom when for the final surgery, Anyway I also applied again this time the only thing I didn't submit is my future death certificate. I hope it works this time. I send over $5000 for house rent and upkeep to them monthly in Canada, it's clear I had no reason to stay there even for a day more. I make good money in Africa, Nigeria is not the only country I do business. I think TRV visas are a No no now, these guys are something else. At the end of the day they still give visas to those who will eventually seek assylum mhoreh: |
