Obi left PDP in 2003 to unknown APGA when he discovered they wont do free and fair primaries.
he used that unknown APGA to win the election and he was rig out. he went to court and he spent 3yrs to get his mandate back. paving ways for others like oshiomole, aregbesola, mimiko, and fayemi to pursue their case in court in won after the 2007 election.

he also left PDP in 2023 for the same reason to an unknown LP. he used the unknown party to also win the presidential election but was rig out by APC this time.
APC is not PDP to willingly allow justice and rule of law to take it course.
APC will rather kill many Nigerians than to give up power

When you talk about Atiku defeating Peter Obi, what exactly is your definition of the word "defeat"? We know how the primary selection is done, it's strictly about who can bribe or lobby more, which you know is not in Peter Obi's character, Peter Obi believes in Equity, Transparency, Credibility and Fairness. He doesn't play criminal or desperate line of politics. If a proper election is conducted based on credibility, qualifications and on a level play of transparency, who's Atiku when Obi Standing.
