The suit that led to the ECOWAS Court judgement delivered in April documented cases where individuals faced arbitrary arrest, detention, and death sentences merely for alleged blasphemous expressions. The ECOWAS Court of Justice has issued a writ of execution directing the Nigerian government to implement its judgement ordering the repeal or amendment of parts of the Kano State Penal Code and Kano State Sharia Penal Code that restrict freedom of expression. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/835792-ecowas-court-initiates-step-for-execution-of-judgement-against-nigerias-blasphemy-laws.html |

Ban sharia law and blasphemy laws now, it is an oppression and persecution of Christians in the north...how can a Nigerian not have the right to speak freely, how can a Nigerian not have the right to sit in the bar in the north,in a supposed secular nation. |
| Re: Ecowas Court Ask Nigerian Government To Ban Sharia And Blasphemy Laws by dederocs(op): 7:36pm On Nov 16, 2025*. Modified: 6:20am On Nov 17, 2025 |
Sharia law encourages religious extremists terrorists, as bokoharam and iswap is killing for same Sharia law. This is persecution of non muslims, which Christians are a large part of. |
| Re: Ecowas Court Ask Nigerian Government To Ban Sharia And Blasphemy Laws by dederocs(op): 7:41pm On Nov 16, 2025 |
Sharia law creates a false sense of superiority to the northern youths, this lead them to terrorism, as the sharia law itself seeks to force everyone around the state to behave according to their Islamic book, they will feel the Islamic book is all there is, and they will grow up to hate anyone not Islamic, this translates into jihadism and terrorism. |

Sharia law is a curse to Nigeria, abolish Sharia law now or divide the country now!!! |
| Re: Ecowas Court Ask Nigerian Government To Ban Sharia And Blasphemy Laws by TONYE001(m): 10:22pm On Nov 16, 2025 |
I've said it before. Nigeria has absolutely no business having Sharia Law. It was a stupid, selfish, and ignorant idea in the first place. BAN Sharia Law now! Otherwise, one day, Christians and traditional people will ask for their own laws. What kinda leaders do we even have here sef? Sharia Law? Isn't it this same people that attempted to STEAL a Christian's property iat Abuja? Through this law, how many lives have been killed in the name of blasphemy? Oh my God! This is just unimaginable. |

I don't think our constitution recognise blasphemy law |
| Re: Ecowas Court Ask Nigerian Government To Ban Sharia And Blasphemy Laws by dederocs(op): 4:13am On Nov 17, 2025 |
Ikaeniyan0:Blasphemy laws and sharia laws are against UN charter of freedoms, that means Nigerians oppressed by this law can sue the government and northern religious leaders and political leaders at ICC, international criminal court |
| Re: Ecowas Court Ask Nigerian Government To Ban Sharia And Blasphemy Laws by dederocs(op): 4:42am On Nov 17, 2025 |
Freshandfitpod:CAN should formally write to ICC on sharia law. Southern youths should come together and do a nationwide protest, calling for referendum, to divide Nigeria peacefully between north and south. Northerners love jihad and sharia more than human beings. |

Can’t impose any religious law on a secular country. No State in Nigeria is 100% Muslim. Except the Sharia no pass the door of the mosque. Otherwise it has no place in Nigeria. Doesn’t make any sense at all. All Nigerians should campaign for moderation and control of religion and their leaders. Things have been allowed to get too out of hand. FG really need to go after imams too and free a lot of those almajiri’s from their brainwash. |

| Re: Ecowas Court Ask Nigerian Government To Ban Sharia And Blasphemy Laws by dederocs(op): 5:16am On Nov 17, 2025 |
Sharia law and blasphemy laws encourage bokoharam and iswap, because that is what they are fighting for...this is why confused northern pawns were protesting with signs that bokoharam are their brothers, this is why bokoharam members were released. |
| Re: Ecowas Court Ask Nigerian Government To Ban Sharia And Blasphemy Laws by Yankee101: 5:44am On Nov 17, 2025 |
They’re harassing people especially in Kano State The north brought Boko haram and Fulani bandits on itself It was bitterness and extremist preaching by people like Gumi’s father and co |
| Re: Ecowas Court Ask Nigerian Government To Ban Sharia And Blasphemy Laws by dederocs(op): 6:42am On Nov 17, 2025 |
Yankee101:They released bokoharam, bokoharam that hates Christians, bombed churches, sharia law is advocated by northern religious leaders/muric and their sharia council, bokoharam too wants to enact sharia law in the whole north...you see the connection. |

Way to go. But for political interest the government will keep a blind eyes to this |
| Re: Ecowas Court Ask Nigerian Government To Ban Sharia And Blasphemy Laws by grandstar(m): 7:46am On Nov 17, 2025 |
I laugh at the number of people here saying Sharia law should be banned. Sharia law is largely practiced in the North, and it barely affects Christians there. Should OBJ have banned Sharia law when it was introduced in 1999 in Zamfara state? Perhaps, Boko Haram insurgency would have started then. There are somethings that are just not worth thehassle. |
| Re: Ecowas Court Ask Nigerian Government To Ban Sharia And Blasphemy Laws by Sirjamo: 7:48am On Nov 17, 2025 |
I want to see the government that will be unfortunate enough to ban sharia Is it by force to join you people in your prostitution and miserable way of life? Is it by force to allow our daughters be wayward like yours? Is it by force for us to always drink to stupor like you? As for blasphemy. No Muslim has ever gone to any Christian area to abuse Jesus or burn the bible. It's always Christians going to Sokoto or Kano to abuse mohammed or burn the Quran. While I do not support jungle justice, everyone is not like me. Millions of Christians are living in the north without any problem, until someone decided to say something he shouldn't. Respect other people's believes and everyone will be fine. Period |

Sirjamo:You love Sharia law so much but you rejected it's full administration in your SW. However, I am of the opinion it should be left alone provided it's for Muslims. But any time it steps out of jurisdiction to affect peoples of other faith, that's when government should bring the full weight of the law on the perpetrators. |

chiagozien:I fear the presidency is slow on this issue because of the religious affiliation, this is why a lot were afraid of muslim muslim ticket, I thought the president was higher than that...this is a litmus test for the president, he said he is secular minded and will respect the constitution of Nigeria which guarantees freedoms of speech, freedom of association between man and woman and man and man, freedom to express ourselves... telling citizens of the country that they can't sit in a bar because they are in Kano, is an infringement on the right that guarantees freedom for all Nigerians regardless of where they are, as long as they are not committing crime, they don't constitute a threat to life and property. Telling people they can't meet in a bar because you hate it, is oppression and enslavement (man control of man). The society is not about you, it is about the laws of the federal republic of Nigeria, that guarantees these freedoms, protected and guaranteed by the UN charter of freedoms...this is another reason Trump is angry about the Nigerian situation...the Trump administration themselves explicitly mentioned sharia and blasphemy laws as laws used to prosecute non muslims which Christians are a large proportion of...we all can't be same, your beliefs is your personal private business, don't bring it to public life, nobody cares about your beliefs, don't disturb others with it. There are hundreds of religions, if all religious adherents start asking for their religious laws, how will the nation be? Sometimes we don't think, we act like people that have thrown away their common sense, this is why other nations are laughing at us. All other nations have muslims but they understand that religion is for man not the other way round. I think we should block our borders with Chad, Niger republic, Mali, seems those people are the ones making Nigerians look so dumb, they have been indoctrinated deeply for centuries and lack any kind of mind of their own or thinking, completely devoid of rationality, reason or logic, just a gang of brainwashed, religious extremists terrorists, these people have mixed and mingled in the North, they are the core of the terrorists and jihadists, that held the northerners at the jugular, controlling northerners with raw fear, everyone knows who these tribe are. |

helinues:Wetin concern Hisbah with bandits or Boko Haram? I once worked at a private security outfit as their admin manager. Those private gaurds are not to handle industrial crimes such as those involving guns etc. Hisbah are a morality police. They are not equipped to fight the bandits or Boko Haram. That should be the job of the army. |
