No mention of the wife and mother of his children. It seems like a dysfunctional family.

Probably he will be alive today if he had stayed back in Nigeria and raised his children and family here.

As you can see, the chances of getting killed in gun violence and mass shooting in US far exceeds the chances of being killed by criminals in Nigeria.
He will also have the family support he obviously lacked in the US where he died violently as an unhappy man.

The lesson is that the grass always seem to be greener on the other side and many folks holed up overseas for several years hail from dysfunctional background here and likely having it bad over here too. Quit 'follow follow.

The guy almost offed the whole family because he is mad.

And guess what no court can find him guilty

1.Mental assylums don't exist in the USA...not since the 1950's. At best you can get a patient commited to a psychiatric hospital for several months. There are places where mentally ill people can be kept for longer...but those are very few, and doctors have to really confirm that your relative cannot function normally in society...bar is high to get someone sent there.

2.As for court processes, the chap can still go to prision...judge may order him medicated until he is sane enough to stand trial, or if found not guilty by reason of insanity...he goes to a secure mental facility for such people...and no, he won't be let out. He can be there indefinetly.

Two things can happen

1.He can be placed on medicaiton by court order until mentally fit to stand trial

2.Even if found guilty by reason of mental insanity...he gets sent to a secure mental facility for the criminally insane for much of the rest of his life. He may be freed later, but that is if the psychatrists appointed to review him decide he can be free...and that is a big ask...

Example...Mckinley who shot Reagan the then presdent of the US In 1981...was found not guilty by reason of insanity, so he was sent to a secure mental facility. In 1982. He was not let out until 2018 or thereabouts. That's a very long time..probably longer than a sentence he would have gotten for attempted murder.

Doesnt work that way. A 80 something year old dementia man stabbed his wife to death in Nigeria. By then he was paranoid..a big problem with some dementia patients.

Mental illness can strike anywhere. If he stayed in nigeria, same story.

Mental illness is still a big taboo topic amongst Nigerians anywhere in the world. They would rather keep a mad child at home than admit they have a psych case. Igbo people have a proverb that when roughly translated into English goes thus: "I'am not against mad men roaming the streets, but they shouldn't come from my compound".

Don't be ignorant. A mentally challenged man here in Nigeria was almost raping his own younger sister when wmi and a few people around caught him and disabled him. Now, he's locked up in a psychiatric ward.

His parents/family are rich and have been trying to take care and shield him from society as he is an embarrassment to everyone. Hime is also about the same age as this Chukwuebuka

Having a mentally challenged person as a family member is worst than having a sick person. You can't predict what a mentally challenged person can do. Just pray not to have it. This has nothing to do with Nigeria or being in a developed society.

We are saying the same thing, a psychiatric hospital is one that a mentally unstable person is confined to.

No body can release such a person until the doctor sees such patient as improving.

He can't go to prison. In most part of the world crime committed under insanity will not stand.
