He clearly said the Super eagles was promised $50k per goal scored. It is very different from saying, "Whoever score, $50k for you".

Such incentive will only motivate the team to score as many goals as possible, win the game, share the money and go home. Why una dey blame agency wey wan motivate the team? grin
Since when they have been promising such, what competition have they dominated?

They go home with $50k like yesterday, and leave the fans crying.

I wonder how much Congo was promised yesterday before they outplayed us in every part of the pitch

That nonsense should stop. Who no wan play, make e go house

Can't wait for NFF to make scapegoats out of those who held the team ransom for bonuses

Let's know who will get purged before AFCON

But why is NFF owing bonuses and allowances in 2025? This is the same thing NFA was doing in 1996 involving the Dream team and even in 2001 during the era of dem Oliseh.

Why can't NFF pay match bonuses on time like other countries' football federation do? Even countries poorer than Nigeria don't need players to threaten boycott of matches/training before they treat their players well.

8 games played,8 games won, 0 goal conceded and 22goals scored. What a perfect qualification campaign from Tuchel. England hit the jackpot with him.

When SA qualified ahead of us in the same group, is where you will know that Naija nondey serious.

The kind players we have now does not play from the soul. They are there for the popularity and social media life.

I stopped taking Nigerian teams seriously since worldcup 2002. I almost had high BP watching Argentina play us like kids. Plus when nketia lunged at an opponent in one match where we needed a draw, I think, to qualify for round of 16..and he was redcarded, subsequently leading to our loss and ultimately knovked out the tourney. Next day, I red on the news that they were spotted in the club partying. Na after that experiemce, I stopped.

These days, I hardly watch our matches, so I no dey too know our players. I only watch when it gets serious like duringva tourney, or in this case, a must win match.

I never watched any of our previous qualifoers until yesyerday.
I thought I was the only one. I stopped watching them after that show of shame at the 2010 world cup. No matter how much people support them it will always end in a loss when it matters most. This generation of the team is even worse than the previous ones. People that only show up to tourneys to win best drip and jerseys. I don't even understand how people are losing sleep and getting angry over some wayward boys wey dey sag for pitch cheesy

They should have just let that last team they played at the group stage qualifiers win so that they block automatic qualification for South Africa

In the 90s when we dominated, we had a talent gap over other African teams so much that out NFA incompetence didn't matter. Our players were going to Europe as professionals before most African countries.

Nowadays, the gap in talent and exposure that Nigeria had over the other African countries in the 90s has evaporated now that these countries are also sourcing their talents from Europe.

Lets take the Congo team that defeated us yesterday of their starting 11, Only 2 of them started their playing careers in Congo, the other 9 were either born in Europe or went to Europe as little children. So they have the football training and tactics of top academies before they decided to come play for Congo

So Congo FA can be useless like Nigerian FA but our talent pool is about the same. So it becomes a toss up and anybody's game

Very few people know it but one of our most prominent nairalanders was a former chairman of NFA......he still posts on this forum everyday.
I don't know why we are crying........ can we say we deserve a place in the world Cup after our showing yesterday?
Its better we stay back than showing up and leaving with three points or less once again.

Great points.

Also, I can’t remember the last time we had talents transition from our youth teams (U17/U20) to the main National team.

In the late 90s and 2000, core pieces of our national team moved through the youth ranks. I used to be able to name 3 players in our youth setup poised for the national team.

The class of 2015 is the probably the last with the likes of VO9, Chukwueze and Nwakali (fallen off). Today, I don’t even know talents that can transition to the SE.

Hell, we couldn’t even qualify for the U17 WC going on in Qatar. We were bounced in the R16 of the U20 by Argentina after finishing the group 3rd.

Our local football is also pathetic. We either fill them with overage players or just mediocre players. Even our local clubs get beaten like snakes in African competitions

Our only hope seems to be children of immigrants raised abroad BUT who are not good enough to make their country of birth. Just like the other African nations are doing

When you and I were growing up, we mostly attended govt schools that at least had 1 big field for soccer games, every evening we played football either on big fields or monkey post, we played principals cup where many U17 players were sourced who grew into senior teams

Nowadays all those are gone. Most of these uncompleted building private schools barely have enough land to park cars not to talk of a field, I am not sure children play football on sand pitches like used to be. All the field have been converted to housing estates So where will our football talents come from?

Our hopes is now those castaway from top European countries

Countries like Cameroun Mali Congo, most of the francophone, Algeria Morroco have a good number of people in France Spain and Belgium so we dont have that talent superiority anymore
I dont think NFF is the only problem cos other African nations too have their own disorganized FAs

Baba forgive my late night rant jare
But that yesterday crash out pain me small

Hehe. People still dey lament.

If you don’t have hope you can’t lose hope. The truck is to not have any hope in the Super Eagles. That will protect you from disappointment.

With regards to the talent thing, one problem is the number of potential footballers that we have lost to pressing and other misadventures.

Also, many of our foreign-born players are top class and end up representing European countries.

In another matrix we line up like this.

………Aina……Akanji…….Tomori….…Saka…….

………………………..Ndidi……..Iwobi…………………..

…………..Olise…..……Musiala………..…Eze………

……………………………..Osimhen…………………...

And we win the World Cup. LOL

Baba nothing to forgive jare. I still dey vex since yesterday, you would have seen my posts after the game. I still maintain my stance that the other levels should continue but the SE should be disbanded until further notice.

The truth is African football has caught up with us. We had a lot of time to develop our game and style but we have stagnated. Gone are the days when Nigeria used foreign based players as advantage against African countries. That Congo team paraded experienced players across their first 11 and bench.

We have to look outside and be more intentional about the talents we are looking to convince. I feel like we need to focus on our midfield.

After the WC we should be aggressive with the likes of E. Nwaneri (Arsenal), D. Udogie (Newcastle/ I think he has been capped for Italy but I don’t know if can switch), H. Ahanor (Atalanta), M. Kayode (Brentford), T. Iroegbunam (Everton).

Eberechi Eze got his England cap at 25. Someone we should have gotten since.

Udogie has a dozen caps already. So that ship has sailed.

Nwaneri’s own is dicey. He is highly rated in the England set up but because of how stacked England are in that position I think it will favour him longterm to chose us.

Bar Akanji/ Tomori, I don’t think we were getting the others to play for the SE.

I think the likes of K. Schade (Germany/ Brentford), Samuel Omorodion Aghehowa (how we missed this one is beyond me), Karim Adeyemi, Nmecha were the next tier we should have tied down and could have convinced but missed out on.

Yes. Those were all gettable.

I think we could have gotten Eze if we tried really hard. The guy made his England debut at 25. You are right about Musiala, Saka, Olise though. No chance.

This is a very valid argument. This is why we see teams like Cape Verde, Morroco packed with foreign talents giving people a run for their money when it comes to African football in recent time
