Look At The CV Of Nigeria's Defense Minister. by ThroneNGamez(op):
Look at the CV of the country's Defense Minister.

The post mocks the biodata of Bello Mohammed Matawalle, Nigeria's Minister of State for Defence since 2023, highlighting his limited qualifications—only a 1985 SSCE, clerical work, and secondary school teaching roles up to 1996—with no military experience.

Posted amid a fresh lawsuit filed on November 17, 2025, questioning Matawalle's academic records, the viral thread (over 60K views) sparks widespread Nigerian online ridicule of political appointments prioritizing loyalty over expertise.

Replies underscore public frustration with governance, comparing his CV unfavorably to the president's and decrying systemic unqualified placements in critical roles like defense during ongoing security challenges.

This is the reason why everything seems to be going wrong in this country.

I'm not surprised, President Shehu Shagari was an ordinary grade 2 teacher when he defeated Chief Obafemi Awolowo, a Lawyer, an alumnus of University of London, and London School Economics and Political Science.
Buhari's highest Certificate was an attestation from the Emir of Daura, while Atiku has a "Diploma in Law", from no Institution. So no be today.

Blame those APC morons who have ruined this country with their unimaginable stupidity. After all, they were happy to vote in Buhari, who was clearly under qualified, stating that even if he presented NEPA receipt, they would gladly vote for him against an obvious far more qualified candidate. And Buhari totally messed up the country.

ObiaboAdoka:

He has teacher's certificate or so
But I think even he never thought he could become governor until the SC judgement that gave him the seat.
But as someone said up there, he's not the first. Our leadership recruitment process is faulty. It does not even reflect our societal value. I've been to most parts of Nigeria and most Nigerians value education even the core north. We also believe in good character but when it comes to recruiting leaders, these things take a backseat and tribe, religion and other base sentiments kick in. That's even if the elections are not rigged!!

Tinubu passed up on competent Northerners and proceeded to hire people like Matawalle whom the people of Zamfara rejected at the polls due to his performance, as minister. Yet he expects results. His selection of individuals to handle security showed from the get-go that it was not his priority. Not forgetting his decision to appoint a policeman with political ambitions as security adviser despite the advise of many against doing so. What do we now have? Peace deals and negotiations amid rising insecurity, coup scare, PR gig-gone-wrong (Mike Arnold), international scrutiny and a government determined to tell lies to cover up for all these.

Nothing surprises Musa at the gate anymore. How is this even possible at a critical ministry like DEFENSE. Before some lvnatic will want to say he has capable people working under him, how can you trust his decision making of issues he knows next to nothing about?

There are better people from Zamfara State who can do the job, but what was their contribution to the success of Tinubu at the pool? Remember, President Tinubu is a politician, so he has to reward the people who supported him. However, when it gets to your turn, you can go to Havard and bring technocrat and experts. Security in Nigeria is local, it will reduce, whenever the people who are directly affected say it's enough.
Re: Look At The CV Of Nigeria's Defense Minister. by grandstar(m): 9:25am On Nov 18, 2025
Tinubu is ready to pay almost any price to achieve his goals, even if that means sleeping with strange bedfellows.

Tinubu is known for hiring technocrats into his cabinets. His use of men like Wike and Matawalle are primarily to settle political debts. Tinubu is known for his political philanthropy.

It is in his second term when one will see his true colours. That waa what OBJ did.

The lies you lot tell to justify incompetence. If what ypu say is true, isn't he going to settle the political debts of those who will support his re-election or you are admitting he's going to go out of character? Even the Gbadorian above your comment is admitting that Tinubu knew that Mattawalle was incompetent but still chose to place him in charge of a sensitive ministry like defence because he supported his election campaign. In other words, Tinubu is ready to trade-off Nigerian lives just to repay political debts but we all saw how fast he reacted by replacing all his security chiefs and forcefully retiring cohorts of our very best hands when his own was allegedly threatened.

OBJ assembled the very best technocrats in the history of this country to run his government and he did in his first tenure.
