Tinubu: I’m Depressed Over Kebbi Schoolgirls' Abductions, General Uba’s Death by DiamondsAreFore(op): 4:52am On Nov 19, 2025
President Bola Tinubu says he is depressed by the recent upsurge in insecurity, resulting in the murder of Brigadier General Musa Uba by terrorists and abductions of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.

This is just as he sent Vice-President Kashim Shettima to Kebbi to sympathise with the state government and assure parents and guardians of the kidnapped schoolgirls that the government would ensure their quick release.

He also condoled with the military over the deaths of soldiers in a battle with terrorists in Borno State.

President Tinubu also sent his condolences to the military over the death of the gallant soldiers and Brigadier General Musa Uba, who paid the ultimate price while on active duty fighting insurgents in Borno state.”

The President, who the military authorities have fully briefed about the two incidents, expressed sadness over the abduction of the schoolgirls, despite intelligence warnings of a possible strike by the bandits. He commended Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for the efforts made to avert the kidnapping.

While decrying the security breach that led to the regrettable abduction of girls from the boarding school in Maga, Kebbi State, President Tinubu urged communities across the country, especially in areas facing security challenges, to share information and intelligence that will help the military, the police and the DSS to make the communities safe.

“President Tinubu stated that the security forces cannot perform optimally without the support of Nigerians and local communities.

As the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I am depressed with the tragic death of our soldiers and officers on active duty. May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other fallen heroes.

I am also depressed that heartless terrorists have disrupted the education of innocent schoolgirls. I have directed the security agencies to act swiftly and bring the girls back to Kebbi State
.

“Our security forces cannot succeed in protecting us if the people don’t cooperate and share information that will help them keep our communities safe. I urge community leaders and our compatriots across the country, especially those in the theatres of operations, to share useful information. Your cooperation is crucial in our fight against these security challenges,” the President said,” Bayo Onanuga, Presidential spokesman, said in a statement.

After declaring his "depression" over the school abductions, he was spotted laughing and gisting with his APC loyalists as he boarded the Presidential jet to head to South Africa for the G20 summit.

Balablu should honourably resign. He has woefully failed in his number one mandate which is to secure the lives and properties of Nigerians.

He should call on Donald Trump to act fast and rescue Nigerians from these terrorists before things get out of hand ✋.

His depression can not change anything.

So unfortunate how we allowed situation to continue getting worst.
With the change of guards within the military and the fear of Trump's intervention, one expects a high level of restrategizing towards our fight against terrorism.
It's obvious we are not winning the war.
If international support will be the solution, let it be.
Generals are now been kidnapped and killed, students no longer safe.
Chibik girls remain unresolved till date.
Depression won't solve the problem,we need solutions.

If he is not the president by now, protest would have started with an inscription "RELEASD KEBBI STUDENT".

He led a massive protest back then. Now if anyone protests against his Government, he will send all the Forces to go arrest them.

This is the biggest LIE ever.
Tinubu doesn't care about any Nigerian. All he cares about is how he will win the 2027 reelection. He is focused on using Wike to destroy the opposition parties.

But 40,000 American christians are slaughtered annually there due to gun violence.

Why does Trump love you more than his own people?

What does he really want?

Does your brain not think that way, and if not why not?

Story for the gods! If you are depressed and so what? What have you done? State of emergency could be declared to capture power but can't be declared over terrorism and genocide. What an irony? I am glad we are all mortals and will pass away to give account of our stewardship to our creator.

Tinubu is everything he accused Jonathan of, and more.

Isn't the bulk of security on his table again? Or is his table smaller than Jonathan's?

Sadly, Nigerians will continue to vote along tribal and religious lines, instead of voting in right people that can actually do the job.

Depressed indeed.

Depressed, so, what happens next? Probe? Any heads rolling? Why was the intelligence provided ignored? Why did the military pull out about 30 minutes before the attack as alleged?

Bunch of idiots running this country.

My advice to you, Mr president. Insecurity in the North is being fueled by northerner politicians, imams, and traditional leaders. Now, Mr president, establish state police. Let every state be responsible for her own insecurity challenges. And give resources control to state and local governments, may be, 50% and 20% respectively.

“As the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I am depressed with the tragic death of our soldiers and officers on active duty."

Just look at the weak and demoralising statement from a president at a time when troop morale is low and needs to be boosted with reassurances and even presence at the battlefront.

With state police, would it absolve Tinubu of the responsibility of protecting lives of Nigerians from terrorists or will each state also have its own Army? Bearing the title, "President and Commander-in-Chief goes beyond hopping on private jets for vacations in France and St. Lucia. Enough of the tired cliché of naming who you feel is responsible for the insecurity. You all should put heads together and send the names of the culprits to Tinubu and force him to take concrete actions. Are they more important than the number of Nigerians dieing from these terrorist attacks on a daily basis?

Because 40,000 Christians are being killed the America, we should let islamic jihadists to continue the killing of Christians in Nigeria.

Are the people killing Christians in America jihadists?
Are Christians the main target in America?

Does your brain think that way?

Every state has her own unique security challenges so home grown solutions should be allowed. The present policing architecture in Nigeria is no longer tenable all over world. Hence, state security network even at local government should be encouraged. Everyone knows that insecurity is most prevalent in the northern Nigeria and this is solely because of Islamic indoctrination.
Yes Tinubu is to be blamed for insecurity because he has done what is supposed to be done. Tinubu should go and implement resources control to state and local governments,50% and 20% respectively. No to free money from the federal government to the state governments. If Tinubu can do these, no one will get worry about what happens in zamfara, kebbi or Bornu. Whatever happens in those states should not be problem of other regions.
