Actress Oluwabukola Awoyemi Says Four Family Members Abducted in Kwara Church Attack, Condemns First Lady’s Statement”

Actress Oluwabukola Awoyemi has publicly challenged claims made by the Kwara State First Lady regarding the recent attack on a church in Eruku, describing the incident as more severe than reported. While official statements characterized the attack as an “attempted incident” with no casualties or abductions, Awoyemi insists the reality on the ground is far grimmer. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to the actress, armed attackers invaded the church during a service, injuring multiple worshippers, killing some, and abducting several community members. Awoyemi revealed that four members of her own family remain missing and are believed to be held by the assailants. She expressed deep frustration over what she described as misleading official accounts, highlighting the distress faced by families in Eruku who are searching for their loved ones.

Awoyemi urged authorities to provide accurate information, intensify rescue operations, and extend support to victims currently hospitalized or unaccounted for. She also called for broader national attention, emphasizing that insecurity continues to threaten communities across Nigeria.

In a video addressing the controversy, she stated:

“Yeah, this video is to directly address the press release on the First Lady of Kwara State regarding the bandits attacking Eruku. My name is Oluwabukola Awoyemi. I’m from Eruku Town, Ekitiluku Government, Kwara State. Ma’am, the information you got from the Kwara State police is false. Because this involves my people directly. It was a successful attack. It was an attack. Not an attempted attack. We all saw the video. They were streaming live while the church program was going on when the bandits came in, and a lot of people were abducted. I’m so much pained when I saw the release that it was an attempted attack and nothing happened to anyone. Some people are in the hospital right now. Three people are dead. I’ve spoken to many people from my town. My cousins, my uncles, presently my cousin… like three, four of my cousins are in the bandits’ den. It was a successful attack, not an attempted one. Everybody is crying because we can’t find them. We don’t know if they will be found dead or alive. This is not just in Eruku alone; the whole of Nigeria needs help.”

Awoyemi’s account underscores the urgent need for accurate reporting and swift government intervention to protect citizens from ongoing insecurity. Her call has drawn significant attention online, as Nigerians continue to demand immediate action to rescue abducted residents and prevent further attacks.
