Nnamdi Kanu Convicted On FG’s Terrorism Charge by NgeneUkwenu(op): 12:44pm On Nov 20, 2025

ABUJA– The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has found the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, guilty on count-1 of the terrorism charge the Federal Government preferred against him.

The court said it was satisfied that Kanu made series of broadcasts to incite violence and killings, in furtherance of his separatist agitation for Biafra.

Trial Justice James Omotosho based his decision on what he described as “uncontroverted evidence” that was adduced before the court by the prosecution.

If you follow the evidence being read by the judge, it is very chilly, gory and dehumanising. Even lawyers in the court room are all shaking their heads in disbelief, while others are shedding tears.

Nnamdi Kanu went over the board. No President can pardon Kanu in the next 10 years. There might be commutal to life in prisonment, after the death sentence today, which may be considered after he must have spent a reasonable amount of years in prison and also show reasonable remorse for the atrocities he committed against Igbo people.

This is a long walk for the terrorist.

Tinubu will not pardon him . Even most eastern governors are against his release . But i doubt he will be given the death sentence. He will likely be jailed for some decades and released much later . He needs to be held accountable for the deaths carried out by his boys . Spend some time and if deradicalized and rehabilitated , release him .....afterall that is the ruling on the terrorist recently convicted

Convicted as charged on all counts.

All Fulani terrorists should be brought before this judge for speedy judgement.

I think it is sobering that it took this long for justice to come for the victims. It's bad for the convict , victims and families of the victims.

The long trial also played into the religious/tribal bigotry weapon the convict combined with the wide media/social media coverage to cause division, terrorize innocent citizens and further traumatize the families of the victims.

I believe the Judiciary has learnt valuable lessons too.

You're right.

However, we should take into account his escape, the time it took to repatriate him (Buhari, you do this one), and Kanu's penchant for prevarication, disorderly conduct leading to the recuse of judges, in the hope to stall the case.

The courts could do better.

However, today, justice is done.
