Why Did Kanu Not Enter A Plea Deal With The AGF? by DomPerignon(op): 3:07pm On Nov 21, 2025
Midway through his now concluded trial that saw him getting a life sentence, Kanu's legal team had informed Justice Omotosho that they are seeking a plea deal with the AGF.

The Prosecution stated that it had no objection to that and that the defendant was free to explore any legal means in his ongoing case.

I am sure a plea bargain was discussed and maybe some sort of arrangement would have been met with the FG striking off the most serious charges and focusing on lesser charges.

I am sure when this was presented to kanu by his legal team, he would have rejected it and insisted the trial continue to the very end.

If you also recall, his lead lawyer , Agabi had resigned from handling the case and had duly informed the judge . Note that Agabi on first appearing in court for kanu , apologised on behalf of his client for his unruly behaviour.

Agabi handled the case professionally and showed respect to court proceedings.

The very next slated date of proceedings , Kanu sacked his remaining lawyers and said he will be representing himself.

Its at this time Alloy was doing his 10 man protest with Sowore.

After that everything went to hell.

I am sure that Alloy advised kanu to sack his legal team so as to be able to derail proceedings with his amateur lawyering .

No lawyer will get away with how Kanu was addressing the issue of jurisdiction and an amended penal code.

Now, back to the topic which is; did the AGF propose a plea bargain deal that would have seen kanu admit guilt to lesser charges ? And if so, did kanu reject it?

I am of the opinion that if there was a plea bargain in the first place , kanu would have been sentenced to maximum of 20yrs and the judge would have considered time served in DSS detention which would have seen kanu doing 15ys in Kuje Prison. The President will then be able to step in and grant him full pardon or reduction in sentence by 2031 .

But kanu's arrogance and misbehaviour in court plus his pride pushed him to where he is now which will be very difficult for the President to grant him a pardon or reduction of sentence as he showed no remorse, repentance or respect to the court, justice and the prosecutor.

To the Government and it's stakeholders, Mazi kalu and the Biafra agitators are more of a threat than the activities of the Islamic terrorists and their sponsors operating in Nigeria.

Iswap, boko haram, bandits and other terrorists groups operating in Nigeria ONLY wants to islamatize Nigeria. They don't want separation and to the stakeholders of Nigeria that is less of a crime compared to the Biafra agitators who wished to separate themselves from Nigeria....

It doesn't matter if Nigeria is forcefully islamatize as long as we remain one nation, that is acceptable to the stakeholders. At least their interest is still intact.

But what they failed to understand is that the Biafra agitation is bigger than Nnamdi kalu and ipob.

The sentencing of Mr kalu will not stop the agitation for Biafra. It will probably help the agitators gain more sympathy and support across the globe and even within the country...

The Death of Ojukwu did not stop the agitation for Biafra what exactly made you guys believe that the incarceration of MNK will stop or negatively affect the agitation of Biafra ?

Personally, I think the agitators need to change tactics. They need to be less reactive and be more proactive especially outside of Nigeria and with leaders and Nations that are sympathetic to their causes.

They also need to be very very secretive and less emotional in their dealings both in and outside the country....

One of the greatest of many flaws of the average IBO man is how lineal his mindset is and how tone deaf he can be in not able to read the room.

IPOB lobbying in the US has caused more damage to ibos in Nigeria .

If you think Trump or any other powerful leader or state will gamble with supporting IPOB seize the SS oil and gas in the name of Biafra when they can simply strike a deal with Nigeria , then you are deluded.

That was because Kanu believed that, you can not plead for what does not exist.

He believes that the law used for his conviction has been revealed.
So no one can probate and retrobate at same time.

Once he plead, it means he agreed that the law used for his conviction was still active

Pride and ego can never allow him to do that

Remember he's Omadick 1, the direct son of Chukwu Okike Bambiala

Did you not watch Justice Omotosho address this issue when he read out the appropriate amendment which stated categorically that the current bill will have no effect on any ongoing prosecution and conviction .

The old penal code was amended by expanding it and same amended act said all ongoing cases or convictions under this act remain in force.

You really want to know?

We don't enter plea deals with a bunch of inebriated Pablo Escobars just to walk free. Plea deals happen in Chicago not in Biafra! Tinubu and Omotosho should be told. They can never cage biafrans..

How many times will we tell you these, you disciples of the kleptomanaics

Tinubu can sentence Kanu to a thousand lifetimes in jail. It changes nothing. Call your friends in the east and they will tell you that folks are more agitated and reasy to go than ever...

Victory is for the just.
The vandals will win the battles but the just will WIN the WAR!
