FG denies Shutting Down Schools Nationwide Over Terror by Omooba77(op): 4:35pm On Nov 22, 2025
The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed a message circulating, claiming that schools nationwide have been instructed to shut down from 24 November 2025.

In a press statement issued on 22 November 2025, the Ministry described the message as “false, misleading, and one that did not originate from the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, any State Ministry of Education or any recognised security agency.”

The disclaimer, signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations, urged the public to desist from sharing unverified notices that could cause unnecessary panic.

According to the statement, the Ministry advised Nigerians to rely solely on information released through legitimate government channels.

“The public is strongly advised to rely strictly on verified information issued through the following official channels: The Federal Government, The Federal Ministry of Education, State Governments and State Ministries of Education, and recognised security agencies,” it said.

The Ministry further cautioned against the dangers of misinformation, urging citizens to verify any school-related announcements before circulating them.

“Any announcement, advisory, or notice coming from unofficial or unverified sources should be ignored and not shared,” the statement warned, adding that members of the public must help “curb the spread of misinformation.”

On Friday, armed terrorists stormed St. Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School, Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting an unspecified number of students and teachers, SaharaReporters learnt.

Multiple community sources who visited the school after the attack confirmed the invasion, describing it as a coordinated operation that lasted between 2am and 3am.

Ahmed Abdullahi Rofia, the Head of Disaster and Relief for Agwara Local Government, also confirmed the incident, alongside Bello Gidi, media aide to the chairman of Agwara Local Government.

Speaking with SaharaReporters, Gidi said: “Yes it’s true that bandits have kidnapped students and teachers at St. Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School Papiri, Agwara LGA, Niger State.”

He further revealed the scale of the attack, stating: “The information that is reaching us is that they have kidnap over 100 students and teachers. Also the school is a mixed school boys and girls.”

However, SaharaReporters noted that the exact number of abducted persons remains unclear.

Community members who spoke to SaharaReporters said the attackers whisked away “more than a dozen” children, but the figures circulating locally had not been independently verified.

Bóko Hárám = School is Abomination.

Whatever the justification, the closure of schools is perfectly in line with BH agenda.

It is not just colleges, universities need to be shut too.

Students in universities have been kidnapped as well.

Were soldiers not killed and kidnapped in the defense college some time ago, precisely 2021?

Dear President Tinubu, a curious problem is that an order was given for soldiers to withdraw before the kidnappers struck. If terrorists can make brazen attacks on military colleges and barracks, it means that they have no fear of the military. How exactly do they know the layout of our military establishments to be so brazen? How do they know the location of armoury?

Yesterday, terrorists in Zamfara were in a wedding and had guns on them. What was the state response?

It comes off as if the terrorists have no fear of our security. I think the Nigerian military has not been so weak and vulnerable as now.

What went wrong?

Does the airforce not have drone technology to monitor movements? Does the military have no personnel? If Togo launches an attack on Nigeria, can the military defend Nigeria's territorial integrity?

The Plateau is quiet for now, what is being done there that cannot be replicated elsewhere? Benue is also quiet. What steps are being taken?

Now to the schools closure, are they going to declare a Covid-19-style lockdown on the entire country because of terrorists?

Dear President Tinubu, it is time to be proactive. It is time to take the battle to terrorists. Forget about terrorist sympathizers like those condemning the conviction of Nnamdi Kanu. You swore an oath to keep our people safe.

As president, you owe Nigerians security. You must give it to them. They must feel safe and never live in fear.

You're just a propagandist.

You've all been singing the same 'failed state' chorus even when Tinubu was not there. It was about Northerners, Fulani & cows before, now it is the turn of Yoruba.

Re: FG denies Shutting Down Schools Nationwide Over Terror by UkoAnnang(m): 5:53pm On Nov 22, 2025
cool

What are they doing exactly?

Either the federal government shut down schools or not, parents should withdraw their children from schools at the moment. Especially schools in northern states

It's better the kids stay at home and stay safe their families than assembling them in school for Tunibu-islam terrorists.

So let me get this straight, the Ministry says schools should resume while students are still being kidnapped and insecurity is at its peak?

It’s becoming painfully clear that those in charge lack goodwill and have no real plans to protect the citizens.
Re: FG denies Shutting Down Schools Nationwide Over Terror by MemoriesAndMe: 6:02pm On Nov 22, 2025
Whoever came up with this type of news needs to be investigated. Why would schools nationwide be shut down over terrorism in some parts of the country? It makes no sense at all.

The ant infested firewood apc imported into Nigeria to remove Jonathan is now their headache and disgracing them big time. You're shutting down schools to stop further kidnaping of school children because such news is justifying Trump's claims and threats. What goes around comes around. What you sow is what you reap.
