If you want to control who comes into Southwest, you Yoruba leaders should stop being cowardly and be bold and courageous enough to demand for a separate Yoruba or Southwest country where you will have your own country's immigration, Police and Border Security to checkmate migrants coming into your country.


But as long as you guys want Nigeria to remain one indivisible nation, you have no legal right or backing to stop law abiding citizens of Nigeria from moving and living freely anywhere they want in Nigeria.

In China, you literally have to apply with the central Chinese government for permits to live in the big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. In Shanghai citizens indigenous to the area are classified as A and are given first preference for employment. This has helped manage growth. Everyone can’t relocate to Lagos or Abuja. People need to develop their respective states. Nigeria has to practise something like this or else Nigeria will continue to be a shithole

China. You can't just pack up and move from one state to another especially if you're going from a rural region to an urban region. You have to obtain a permit which can be rejected or revoked just like a visa. The Chinese government put this in place to curb overpopulation in big cities like Beijing and Shanghai

Thanks for this, in countries like Russia, UAE, China and even Ethiopia in Africa citizens can’t just pack up and say they are leaving to another state. It makes no sense for citizens of Nigeria to just pack up and say they’re relocating to the south west. Akure is becoming something I don’t understand with he amount of Igbos cross migrating from Lagos to Akure

You are very right. It's high time we adopt such a policy....internal migration control.....though, the Constitution doesn't support such.... But can be adopted and amended in the Constitution....

There is nothing like migration within the confines of a country. The constitution is very clear on that. Every Nigerian is free to live and work in any part of the country. We can’t make the constitution a proclamation of convenience. The one Nigeria under one constitution has always been the guiding principle. SW does not operate a different system and the discussion of the effect of migration on the region by itself is speaking on both sides of the mouth.

Unless you’re all planning to worsen the security situation, steal the commonwealth and split the country

Yorubas are also in other places. Igbos and Hausas are often conspicuous as they are found in markets. Yoruba are artisans in the main and are not often found in markets but they are everywhere too
