Yorubas are also in other places. Igbos and Hausas are often conspicuous as they are found in markets. Yoruba are artisans in the main and are not often found in markets but they are everywhere too
grin yes, what’s the population of Yorubas in other places compared to number of economic migrants from other regions in yorubaland? Just like the senator rightly said, Sw still play host to most economic migrants in the country and the reasons are obvious due to the thriving economy of The sw region grin

I still discussed this serious matter with some fellow landlords yesterday. Is there anything we can do to stop this influx of foreigners into the Southwest? My street here in Ondo State is currently dominated by northerners (many of them are from Niger republic). They have turned every corner and uncompleted buildings to shacks and residents. Their kids are everywhere, they don't attend school. Early in the morning they are already roaming about the community scavenging for scrap iron and plastic bottles. They know every in-and-out of our area than our own children.

Contrary to most comments on this thread, this thing is happening all over southwest, not only Lagos.

Nobody is migrating to Ekiti, Osun, Ondo, Oyo and Ogun states though.

It's a shame and an enormous embarrassment how everyone from South Westen Nigerian hides under the cloak of Lagos state to claim "YorubaLand". It's just like someone from Sokoto claiming Kano state simply becasue they are both NW states.

It's a pity how people are so ashamed of their own state that they deny it just to claim Yorubaland, beacsue of Lagos.
That's the culture/tradition of SWesterners/Yoruba. That's why we are different from others. So don't try to impose your culture/tradition on us.

U lie. Bit time. They are busy migrating to Oyo and Osun. That i can say 1st handedly. A lot of times U will think they are heading to Lagos but the loaded lorries offload them around Osun and Oyo. They penetrate Osogbo and environs, Ibadan and environs. They have communities that are even dominated by them. Go and do ur findings

Your comment is devoid of sense in your futile attempt to compare the SW states tonyour barren deserted region. Influx into Ibadan alone surpasses that of the entire SE region.

But shame on any Governor who doesn't knows the in and out of His state.

Sometimes I wonder if this people really know why they are elected?

How can a state border be so fragile and vulnerable to attack, they only protect their area and leave the rest to perish

Excellent. I find it strange that yorubas claim they generate more revenue than other states combined together yet they scared of being on their own so that they can enjoy all that revenue alone
Yoruba scared of being on their own?? A common blogger recently told you guys to leave SW and move back to your enclave, but the entirety of your leaders and kinsmen were asking for his head.

It is simple, push for break up of Nigeria, that will end it. South west will now require VISA from foriegners to come in. There is no other way. Or at least push for UK style where each region operates like a nation just like UK 4 nation arragement and South west will now require strict measures for anyone to come to south west. U see, that is the only way forward. This was what The igbos fought for in 1967, they wanted out which would have favoured south west by now.

This is a real tickling time bomb,I just pray South West governments will come together irrespective of their political affiliation to put up formidable security architecture guard it against these marauders.

Also every peace loving south westerners must reject the idea of establishing sharia law in the region under any guise. Sharia law is the bedrock of instabilities in the northern region.

In any Nigerian city, a large percentage of bus and taxi drivers are Yoruba so also tailors, bricklayers welders and etc but you will not find them congregated in one place. For Igbos they are boutique owners, patent medicine dealers, spare parts dealers and etc and they are in the markets where they are conspicuous. I have made some research and I believe Igbo do not outnumber Yoruba in any Northern city

Northerners come mainly during their dry season. They always return to the North to farm but whenever they are around they are always all over the place.
They work and are potential tax payers.
SW should be around 55 million of Nigeria's 220 million.
the people you call "northerners" in Lagos and some other southern states are from niger republic...

they are not Nigerians... and are meant to be deported by immigration officers.

who do you think the u:S:a will use to launch attacks in defense of christianshuh

it is the illegal immigrants from Niger republic they will use..

just watch, there will soon be attacks on religious places in Lagos then the U:S will strike Lagos then destroy dangote refinery.

influx of foreigners? So northerners are foreigners? LAGOS was the concentration hub of federal resources and investment for years, it's normal for more Nigerians to migrate to Lagos and states around Lagos.

undecided your argument is neither here nor there. I never told you that Yorubas re not found in other region. But I made it clear that Sw still host the highest number of migrants from all over Nigeria and I even supported by claim with a quote from senator gbenga Daniel which clearly states that fact undecided

The solution is for the government to spread development to other regions and encourage more companies to have their HQ outside Lagos. NLNG is an example in Rivers State. So many companies that have nothing to do with finance have their HQ in Lagos. Thank God for Abuja if not Lagos population you are complaining about would have been double.

This is 2025 with technology, some people in Nigeria work remotely for companies in US and Europe. Any job that doesn’t need physical presence should allow their staff to work remotely so they can live in other states where cost of living is cheaper and their salaries will have more value. Their spending will boost local economy of these states. As more people earn in these other states they will spend their money and it will trickle down to the common man who wouldn’t need to migrate to Lagos to make a living.

I laugh when I see companies talking about climate change and reducing carbon emissions meanwhile they make their staff come to work everyday, 2 hours in traffic burning fuel and congesting the road when they can perform from home.
what the federal government has built in Lagos is also available in other states..

federal universities, federal polytechnics, federal secondary schools, federal primary schools, federal hospitals, federal customs immigration offices, federal airports, other federal agencies, federal roads, military colleges, Police colleges, police stations, military barracks, Navy e.t.c

state governments also have their own universities, polytechnics, secondary schools, primary schools, hospitals, state airports e.t.c..

it is the private businesses in Lagos which is mostly YORUBA owned that makes Lagos thrive..

the FG cannot force Yoruba people to move their private businesses out of their own Yoruba region..

Let other tribes to create businesses in their own states..

there is no government in Nigeria..
