Wasted budget. You can’t spend such amount of money on our defense and insecurity is still on the rise. |

A mere 5 billion dollars to secure 200 million people New York city security budget is 15 billion dollars for 9 million people I laugh when some fools compare Nigeria to the whole US. Opposition politics should not make anyone become mad. |

Sirjamo:See how you are insulting yourself already. Go and give Tinubu 1 trillion dollars from your bank account. Do you have the economy of Newyork to be making such ridiculous comparison? |

How much are Boko Haram and other terrorists spending or budgeting on their own arms and logistics that's making them far better than our entire military?!! ...Cos, this is not adding up at all! I'm still wondering what Navy and Airforce do with their own budgetary allocations, cos they practically do next to nothing in this fight against insurgency. |

Nigeria airforce should better be giving good allocation than army |

Sirjamo:If you had said this during jonathan's time i may have taken what you are writing now seriously, did you and Tinubu say this during Jonathan's time? No amount of money may ever be enough to get a job done when dealing with a bad manager |

RealLordZeus:The "little" they have been receiving, what do they have to show for it?!! The heaviest casualties from them have been innocent civilians they "mistakenly" bombed. |

Angelfrost:A budget of approx 200m USD for a weapon importing nation is too small and wont even show..just payment of salaries for those top Air marshalls don half the budget |

Sirjamo:See how you advertise your emptiness like a flag of honour New York has a defense budget of 15 billion dollars therefore Tinubu is excused but not Jonathan. That New York that you are drawing comparison with has a budget and revenue that is more than that of your entire country |

RealLordZeus:Yes... So, they just receive salaries and that's all?!! Every single year?!! Even nations with fewer air resources than Nigeria have airforce personnel with far better battle records and experience. See ehn... Let's just quit this justification for mediocrity. It won't take us anywhere. Simple! |

The real budget is 1/5th of that amount. 4/5th will be or has already been eaten up corruption. |
| Re: Breakdown of Nigeria’s ₦3.10 Trillion Defence Budget (2025) by WriterX(m): 8:21pm On Nov 22, 2025 |
DrMB:This is just crazy, A ₦3.1 trillion defence budget looks big on paper, but it collapses under scrutiny: the Army alone takes nearly half with no measurable improvement in security, the Navy and Airforce remain under-equipped for the scale of modern threats, research receives a token ₦10 billion that cannot drive innovation, and none of it addresses transparency, procurement waste, or troop welfare—meaning Nigeria is still spending massively but investing poorly, and insecurity will outgrow any budget that isn’t tied to accountability, technology, and real strategic reform. This is just at this point, very concerning. If we are dealing with terrorism which has been recorded under a year period to receive over 2.2 trillion in ransom. |
| Re: Breakdown of Nigeria’s ₦3.10 Trillion Defence Budget (2025) by RealLordZeus(m): 8:23pm On Nov 22, 2025 |
Angelfrost:Payment of salaries without weapons, how do you expect to see result.. nobody is justifying mediocrity , the budget is small.. check the budget of the Nigeria Senate |
| Re: Breakdown of Nigeria’s ₦3.10 Trillion Defence Budget (2025) by musa234(m): 8:23pm On Nov 22, 2025 |
Yet they can't defeat the terrorist? It has always been obvious that the Nigerian army are benefiting from this terrorism |

Sirjamo:The Holy Book says: "He that is faithful in little shall be entrusted with far greater things" If you can't do anything meaningful with 2 jet planes, can't even clear out terrorists within Borno alone, what is the guarantee that you will do more with the same number of jets in Russia or America?!! If you can't properly account for 5 Billion Dollars (which you called "mere" ), how can you account for twice or thrice that amount?!! When I say you sycophants no nothing about Leadership especially transparent and accountable leadership, you all think I'm insulting the little intelligence you all lack. |
| Re: Breakdown of Nigeria’s ₦3.10 Trillion Defence Budget (2025) by grandstar(m): 8:25pm On Nov 22, 2025 |
amazingspiderma:The amount is stingy. A country like Nigeria at war needs at least 3% of its GDP spent on the military. The alternative may be for the country to try an extremely economic snd efficient.way to achieve results. Give the military targets, and cash rewards for achieving those targets 1billion for every bandit camp they obliterate for instance. It should be given to the soldiers that carry out the operation. 500k each for the privates. It could be N5m for the generals. I am just dropping ideas. States could also get involved, provide some form of incentives. For the Northeast where they are fighting religious islamists, extremely radical incentives can also be used. Dealing with that crowd is hard. These are guys driven by idealogy. Worse, there are plenty of them. An army high up said up to 120,000 terrorists have been captured since the start of the war. The numbers are insane. All these are ideas. They will definitely need finetuning. |
