The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has asked President Bola Tinubu to seek local and international help to end insecurity in Nigeria or resign honourably.


Fractional National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ini Ememobong, made this call in a statement on Sunday.

The party urged the government to develop a comprehensive plan to combat the issue, instead of resorting to a simplistic approach of closing schools in a bid to prevent further kidnappings and to score cheap political points.


It said that under the APC-led Tinubu administration, Nigerians have witnessed, a spate of kidnappings in different states in Northern Nigeria.

According to the party, each of the kidnappings left a trail of sorrows, tears, blood, fear, and deep anguish on the families of those affected and their communities.


It further said that in response to the wave of insecurity, different state governments in the affected region have taken desperate measures, while the federal government has yet to give any direction.

“We are aware that the closure of schools in these areas is already being implemented by some state governments and is currently being contemplated by the Federal Government.

“We warn that this closure, if undertaken, like many of this administration’s quick-fix approaches to serious governance issues, will amount to a complete surrender to terrorists, whose sole aim is to shut down schools and prevent children from obtaining formal education, which they declare forbidden.


“If the schools are closed, the goal of the terrorists would have been inadvertently achieved.

“More troubling is the fact that when these unfortunate incidents happen, the administration’s response is usually lacklustre and unempathetic.

“We charge the Federal Government to immediately fund and implement the National Policy on Safety, Security and Violence-Free Schools anchored on community intelligence and quick security response, capable of anticipating and contending with attacks on schools.


“We again remind the President, Bola Tinubu and the entire APC-led administration that the security of lives and property is the primary function of any government. At any time, government is unwilling, unable, or incapable of executing this primary role, such a government, must either ask for help (locally or internationally) or honourably resign, if it is sincere and responsible,” the statement said.

His judgement is suspect. His unwillingness to fully address the issue of rampaging Fulani dislodging communities and kidnapping hundreds makes him wholly unfit to be a leader. It shows he is either spineless and weak or he actively supports what the Fulani are doing.

It must be noted that to this very moment, no one knows who in Tinubu's government authorised the withdrawal of security men stationed in the school in Kebbi where 25 girls were kidnapped. If the president himself is not afraid, heads would have started rolling by now. Why has no one been held accountable?

His choice of Shettima as his vice is becoming more befuddling as the days go by. How do you appoint a man rumoured to be the founder of Boko Haram as your Vice president? Is the president a hostage in his own government? Nigerians are tired of the excuses.

Is it PDP that needs help abi Tinubu. Unfortunately he doesn't care about events happening now. He is only after shattering all oppositions and securing second term. To him, if bandits like, let them kidnap all Nigerians. He is not bothered.

Tinubu can never be President shameless people, I.e. Bode George of Pdp fame, I will go on exile if Bola Tinubu becomes president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
