Again, FG and its allies set deadly trap for Igbo - Obidigbo

Elder statesman, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, has decried the draconian life sentence slammed on the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, saying that it is the height of continuing insensitivity and injustice against Ndigbo

He regretted that the political undertones of the IPOB leader's trial was allowed to take the shape and tone of terrorism, stressing that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led federal government has set yet another trap for the Igbo and South East geo-political zone.

He added that the development re-awakens the memories of the British-engineered trap that led to the Biafran secession followed by a deadly civil war, which lasted for three years, resulting in the loss of about five million Biafran lives in what was seen as the worst genocide only second to the Jewish holocaust by Nazi Germany.

“This life sentence on Kanu revives the pains, humiliations, marginalization and the punishments the Igbo has to put up with since the end of the civil strife in 1970. It appears that the Igbo haters, including the British, French, Fulani North and some elements in South West and their political accomplices in Igboland out fear that Igbo may rise up again, from the ashes of the past destruction and evil designs against, decided to set another trap and stop the Igbo in their track,” he stated.

Obidigbo wondered whether the sentencing of Kanu was actually the decision of the presiding Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, noting that right from the time Justice Binta Yako recused herself from the trial, it became obvious that the government in cahoots with her covert allies was determined to have its way, that will hurt badly and provoke the Igbo one more time.

According to him, “From the gloating of Igbo traducers, it was obvious that Nnamdi Kanu was not the real target, but the Igbo nation, which is being dared to react in such a way that could trigger a conclusive genocide upon them.”

Narrating what he called a steady assault on Igbo, the statesman stated: "Although the persecution of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was initiated by the late President Muhammadu Buhari, the Tinubu administration inherited the very sensitive matter which bordered on protest against marginalization of the South East by the federal government.

“But even when it was clear to all that Buhari hated Igbo with bitter passion, the extraordinary rendition or better put, the kidnapping of Kanu at the end of Buhari's administration left the impression that the state was not inclined to pursue justice according to the rule of law, but a combination of the traditional ethnic hatred against Igbo.

“Upon assuming office as President, Tinubu decided to continue from where Buhari stopped to marginalize the South East by unleashing natural hate, even with greater venom. It's noteworthy that the President has clearly not forgiven Igbo for his defeat in Lagos state by Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election.

“This narrative gained credence not only by the massive and mindless destruction of Igbo property in Lagos, but also in the draconian sentencing of Kanu by Justice Omotosho. The judgement came more as the voice of Jacob, instead of Esau, based on available information.

“One was that he Judge was reading the judgement from a phone, as delivered message, implying that the judgement may have been prepared elsewhere, and forwarded to the Judge electronically. Again, the expose by the 2023 Presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC), Comrade Omoleye Sowore, on November 5, 2025.”

He recalled how Sowore had in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle alerted Nigerians that a secret decision had long reached with Tinubu Presidency to either sentence Kanu to death or condemn him to life imprisonment.

The elder statesman added: “Going by Sowore's exposure there is no doubt that the Tinubu Presidency and her allies decided to set yet another trap for Ndigbo with the bogus life imprisonment of Kanu as a ploy to lure the Igbo into destructive protest, or a political bargain for the 2027 election, and ending the agitation for Biafra by Igbo youths.

"No doubt, the life imprisonment slammed on Kanu may have been orchestrated to provide the president an opportunity to intervene and try to give conditions for Kanu's Kanu's release.

“As an elder statesman that knows some history about Nigeria and the Igbo agitation for equity, justice and fair play, I am inclined to say that this gamble is dead on arrival as it is bound to fail. Tinubu has the fairest opportunity to unite, strengthen and prosper Nigeria. And he personally told me in 2017 during a private visit that prospering the country was his heart's desire.

“But, he has failed to live up to that aspiration now that the ball is in his court. Many eminent Igbo sons including Mbazulike Amaechi, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, George Obiozor had pleaded with Tinubu to give the IPOB agitation a political solution, to no avail.

“The rational advice of Igbo leaders including our own dear Zik, Okpara, Ojukwu for a handshake across the Niger fell on deaf ears, once the table turned in favour of the South West.

“Tinubu and his advisers probably waited to make maximum impact with the trial if Nnamdi Kanu and achieve a political goal. It has been clear as crystal clear that some political and business leaders across Nigeria do not want Igbo in the scheme of things in the country for obvious reasons, including fear of domination and inability to compete at the same level.

“It's equally crystal clear that some putrid Igbo politicians with greed and slavish mentality, will prefer to hang unto the status quo in order to maintain their servile status so long as they latch into power and money. This narratives will forever remain the imperative of Omotosho's life sentence on Nnamdi Kanu" Obidigbo declared.

He stated that transferring Kanu to Sokoto was a final effort to maximize the impact of the humiliation on the Igbo in such a way as to dare them to act spontaneously in their usual manner or to swallow the insult and bury their heads in shame.

Obidigbo disclosed that when placed side by side with the twenty years sentence on the leader of the deadly ISWAP, Hussain Ismaila, the life sentence on Kanu, which derived from the dubious proscription of unarmed IPOB as a terrorist organization, shows that the war on the Igbo is still raging.

He stated: “At any event, President Tinubu has put it in record that he surpasses Buhari in the hatred of anything Igbo. If the President does not believe in one Nigeria, his actions in office including the latest incarceration of the Igbo soul, shows that he is not really interested in building an equitable and secure Nigeria.

"To me, Nigeria is a carefully packaged fraud by Britain, and I believe that Nigeria has outlived its usefulness, particularly for all the indigenous people, who should now be allowed to go and sort out their respective destinies.

“This is where President Donald Trump will be of very great help to the Nigerian people as a whole. This is why all Igbo should remain calm in the face of this horrible provocation to allow God and time to resolve all things.

“It's very agonizing that at this time when established terrorists are massacring, wiping out, and occupying other people's villages, ambushing, attacking and killing our soldiers, and security officials including military generals, what the Federal Government was interested in is how to outlaw dissent and curb mere agitation for referendum through a maximum sentence. Shame!”.

Dr. Chike Obidigbo, a prominent Ndigbo leader, has spoken out against the life sentence imposed on Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). He describes the sentence as a "draconian" measure that further marginalizes the Igbo people. He also questions whether the decision was truly made by the presiding judge, Justice James Omotosho, suggesting external influence in the judicial process.

How many prominent men whether in government or opposition has hailed the reckless judgement? Not even tinubu not even Wike because it is not a popular one.

Obi Cubana, Cubana Chief Priest, Sam Amadi, Adolphus Wabara, Aloy Ejimakor and Peter Obi have all condemned the conviction of Nnamdi Kanu.

1. Have they ever condemned Monday sit-at-home that crippled the entire southeast on Mondays?

2. Did they ever condemn Nnamdi Kanu's incitmement of violence?

3. Did the remember the families of those killed due to incitement?

Some like Wabara, Aloy Ejimakor, and Sam Amadi insist that the conviction was a conviction of Ndigbo. Ndigbo is not violent and Nnamdi Kanu and Simon Ekpa do not represent Ndigbo.

Ndigbo are not abusive the way Nnamdi Kanu was quarrelsome, violent and abusive in the court room.

This conviction should mark the end of violence in the southeast and allow those who committed murder in the name of Biafra agitation to be put on trial. If the Igbo nation condemn the conviction, how come not all governors have openly condemned it? What about senators and representatives?

As for Peter Obi, his urge was to harvest political capital from his reckless statement. He thinks it would appeal to his base. Where was Peter Obi when Nnamdi Kanu was ranting in court? Where was Peter Obi when Nnamdi Kanu refused to defend himself and his lawyers engaged in social media and media prostitution to whip up sentiments?

Peter Obi said Nnamdi Kanu should never have been arrested in the first place. Can Peter Obi clarify if he endorses the violence Nnamdi Kanu and Simon Ekpa instigated?

Nothing has gotten me more angry than Yorubas falling for the trap of these fulani terrorists to keep banging the heads of we southerners together.

Fulani man brought Kanu back to 9ja. What in the world should concern Yoruba with Igbo secession movement? Why cant Yorubas find a way to keep postponing and evading this whole saga until it gets back to the Fulani north to do what they want?

This is the same way these irritant fulani caliphate used Obasanjo to implement sharia law so when people complain, they will say "oh see, it's a Yoruba man that did it". Ditto how they used Gowon as the face of the Biafra war, meanwhile it was the fulani caliphate pulling the strings all through.

The braggadociousness and nonchalance of we so-called enlightened Yoruba is so silly. These Igbo people who can have the effrontery to write a book how they own Ile-Ife, will definitely have 100% authority to pen down to their future generations how Yorubas (Yoruba president & Yoruba judge) sentenced their freedom fighter to life imprisonment because of "the fear of Biafra" / "to pull Igbos down"... (insert reason here).

Yorubas, Yorubas, going to school for nothing... how long do we think we can keep existing in this silly nigeria? How long? We are forming Johnny Bravo ontop Nnamdi Kanu's case. Apart from endSARS, what in the world concerns us with Igbo secession? If you say they are killing themselves, how is that our problem??

Yorubas, e lo ronu gidi gan ni o! E lo ronu gidi gidi gan. 90% of the bashing we do is mainly on the Igbos while just about 10% is about Fulani herdsmen and ISWAP terrorism... and we know which one requires the most urgent attention. Yoruba, e fura o! Hmmn

They were in hiding and too scared for their own lives at the mercy of Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB terrorists group.

Now they have come out from their safe haven after the Buhari regime ensured to obliterate the hold that IPOB had on the emasculated Igbos.
