See a PUBLIC TRADE FAIR FOR GUNS in America, a country that loses 40,000 CHRISTIANS annually to gun violence - at least 50 times the Boko Haram annual casualty figures - yet REFUSES to restrict public gun ownership there, but wants to ''invade Nigeria'' out of ''concern for Nigerian Christians''.

Better ask them what they really want in Nigeria.

PUBLIC TRADE FAIR FOR GUNS IN AMERICA where ANYONE can just walk in and buy a SUBMACHINE gun and start spraying people.

There are many things you are ignorant about on the matter.

1. America will leave gun ownership policy intact to ensure maximum readiness of every American for any internal or external attach.
2. Unlike terrorism, genocides, and bokoharam (as you have mentioned) in Nigeria, every killer or perpetrator of gun violence is investigated, mostly arrested, and punished.
3. Gun ownership gives the sense that nobody is invisible and untouchable, so, people are more careful with the way they deal with each other (you don't just fxck around).
4. Ever heard about the "Wild West"? That's the name given to the western US that was characterized by seemingly uncontrollable violence and lawlessness. Gun ownership for self defense was one of the solution to that problem, and it has to stay in place to keep it resolved.
5. Flipping on the cruel side, gun ownership controls population growth. In gun violence, either the shooter or the victim or both are taken out of the population (dead or jailed), and it all cases the community is depopulated by at least one (either the shooter or victim, or both) useless or terror person. Now imagine that 40k useless and potential terrorists were being removed from Nigerian population from just 2000 to 2005. There definitely won't be various versions and groups of killers and terrorists in the country now.

In summary, as long as the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, that policy will continue to stand in America. Nigeria should allow gun ownership for citizens. The advantages will surely outweigh the disadvantages, but that is if the politicians will start acting in ways that won't make them the first set of victims.

So the US is planning to send their own soldiers out of their pocket to help fight terrorism in africa and some africans are against this?
Instead of ranting online mr op why not go fight the bandits yourself since you are capable and spare the US the stress?

I think their major problem with Nigeria is, the killers are perceived to be Muslims. They can live with Christians killing Christians, not Muslims killing Christians.

Gun ownership will reduce all these rubbish killings happening in Nigeria by 50% at least. Let’s try it first.

If you are going to attack a home and you think the home occupants have guns, you’ll rethink your decision.

Allow guns ownership in Nigeria and let’s see how things go.

That's is one bold step that only an uncompromising govt will quickly take at this stage. When Buhari, started withdrawing people's guns in 2017, I told a friend that terrorism just got officially upgrade in the country.

I think it's high time Nigeria considered adopting a modified version of the Second Amendment similar to the United States, but with stringent eligibility criteria to ensure responsible gun ownership. By restricting firearm possession to individuals who have obtained university degrees and have successfully completed thorough background checks, we can empower a educated and responsible segment of society. This approach would be reinforced by mandatory yearly training, such as a week-long firearm safety and proficiency course, to maintain competency and awareness. Ultimately, this system could help balance the dynamics between various societal groups, reduce illegal gun proliferation, and enhance public safety by ensuring that only qualified individuals have the right to bear arms, thereby addressing security concerns without resorting to extreme measures.

The ironic thing about all those guns is that they are made to be used on human beings rather than other animals. Man's inhumanity to man transcends color and race.

You are wrong.

Mass gun acquisition in USA was approved during the time of WW wars, animals attacking. USA have stopped fighting domestic war or receive any foreign threat, very low animal attack, why are they still mass producing the gun, it's people within the USA using gun to harm themselves.

If USA as a country indeed want global peace, why are they spending billion of dollars yearly to produce more weapons of destruction

Switzerland, one of the richest country in the world, why are their citizens not carrying guns around? You can't even hear Switzerland getting involved in any global war, they have been neutral so no threat from anyone

Even @ that, the rate of senseless mass killings by fanatic Islamic jihadists is much more lower after 9/11 on account of gun licensing in the US. The situation in Nigeria is complete different ball game

47,000 people died due to gun violence every year in USA and you are still saying that's not senseless killings . May be it's an embraced killing then

On average of 500k people go missing yearly in USA.

You are not only right about them not having Jihadist killings, you are also left as well

Chief @helinues, as much as I understand that you have to run against anything that potentially threatens APC and the prevailing establishments in Nigeria, I must state it that I am not wrong. Then, I must end any further emotion and sentiment-driven arguments.

If you mention animal attacks there and then, so it is right now and right here in Nigeria (if not even worse).

BTW, to maintain global peace, the US must remain on top of world super powers. The US and her citizens must keep advancing in warfare to remain top of the world's super power. Switzerland is not in the scheme of world super powers. Infact, by some extension, the Swiss are even part of the people protected under deals with the US.

Emergency for the Country: Burna Boy, Olamide, Bela., and Other Nigerian Artistes Using Music to Speak Up About the Nation’s Growing Insecurity”

Nigeria is at a breaking point. From rising insecurity to economic tensions that stretch across every home, the cultural space has once again become a mirror for the nation’s fears and frustrations. And as history has shown, when situations reach boiling point, Nigerian artistes often become the first to raise their voices.

In recent years, top musicians have used their platforms to call attention to Nigeria’s reality. For many listeners, music has become both an escape and a warning alarm—an archive of the country’s emotional temperature.

Falz: The Artiste Who Turned Protest Into Art

Falz’s “This Is Nigeria” remains one of the most defining political songs of the decade. He chronicles everything from police extortion to religious hypocrisy, forcing uncomfortable truths into the mainstream. His vocal presence during the #EndSARS movement further solidified his role as one of the strongest cultural critics of the state.

Burna Boy: Sounding the Alarm Through Conscious Music

Burna Boy has consistently woven Nigeria’s political atmosphere into his sound. Songs like “Monsters You Made” and “20 10 20” highlight corruption, failed leadership, and the trauma of police brutality. His global reach has turned these issues into international conversations, proving that music can spark pressure on systems.

ENTER BELA.: A NEW VOICE SPEAKING INTO THE NATION’S CHAOS

With his new project tHIs MiGHt coNfUsE yoU, Bela. steps into the lineage of artistes who refuse to ignore the country’s condition.
Track 3, titled “emergencyForTheCountry (ft. J.T.R),” stands as one of the most heartfelt reflections on Nigeria’s current insecurity crisis from a new-generation musician.

Bela.’s track examines Nigeria’s current climate with painful honesty.
Lines like:

“People dey die by the dozen, news is not reporting…”
“Unknown soldiers kill am… innocent men wey dey put for prison…”
speak to the fear spreading across rural and urban communities.
The song touches:
• insecurity
• corruption
• wrongful imprisonment
• economic hardship
• the silence of those in power

Unlike many political songs that accuse from afar, Bela.’s record sounds like someone living inside the pain, not observing it.

Listeners have already described it as “a necessary truth in a confusing time,” making the song one of the standout socio-political expressions of 2025.

Olamide: The Street as a Political Statement

Olamide may not always be tagged as a political musician, but hits like “Symbol of Hope” and lines scattered across his discography often reflect the struggles of young Nigerians—poverty, survival, and the weight of a system that demands strength from the weak. His music is the lived experience of the streets, unfiltered.

Fela Kuti: The Eternal Blueprint

No conversation about musicians speaking against the government is complete without Fela. His legacy remains a reminder that the truth can be sung louder than bullets. Every generation of Nigerian artistes draws from that well.

Why Bela.’s Voice Matters Now

As insecurity rises and uncertainty becomes a routine headline, younger artistes like Bela. are beginning to use their platforms not just to entertain but to document the moment.

A Growing Movement of Voices

Nigeria’s artistes have always been historians of emotion. In a time when many citizens feel unheard, musicians are giving language to the things people whisper about at home.
From Burna Boy’s global activism to Falz’s sharp commentary, from Olamide’s street reports to Bela.’s reflective storytelling—the message is clear:

The country is in an emergency, and the music is starting to scream it.
