His lawyers can challenge the termination, but i doubt if he will win. If he wins he should expect compensation.
Meanwhile he should visit a psychiatrist, rest from the corporate world for a while and start again.
Heard his a tech guru, he should start again, this time around as a better person.

He's a multi billionaire dude.

They sold paystack for $200million few years ago.

He's richer than all your bloodline since creation put together

But I believe if he had sought a good PR person they'll be able to respond adequately to the claims. He has to clear the air wether he said those things for cruise or just to garner SM followership.

If he can get the people to see reasons with him (or be on his side) I believe he'll get a soft landing.

Worryingly:
He is not "just an employee". He is a member of the board and a cofounder.
He co founder the company, obviously that gives him the right to be on the board.

He doesn't own Major shares, that means he can be sacked at any time

You obviously don't understand share dilution,

He's an employee to the money bags funding the whole thing. The investors can boot him out if he doesn't do what they want or behave accordingly.
Sure he is an employee. If you noticed I quoted "just an employee". He definitely isn't just an employee.

Even amongst colleagues that submitted CVs before employment, some are still more highly placed.

Ezras sacking and the process around it will not be the everyday sacking.

When you raise funding via venture capitalists (series A, B, C, etc.) to build your company, you essentially give away full ownership of the company and become an employee to your investors.

If paystack was a one man business, no one who dare sack him.
He couldn't have sold his entire stock in the company to venture capitalist. That would be a foolish thing to do.
He should still hold a certain percentage in stock

I think they sold Paysatck. He was retained as an Empolyee because of his Technical know-how.

E don collect money from the sale of Paystack but he can challenge his sack in a Court of Law as an employee but not a co-founder.
Re: Paystack Sacks Ezra Olubi (Their Co-Founder) by TempleHouse: 12:11pm On Nov 24, 2025
A good entrepreneur but a pervert and a sadist!

It would have been suicidal for Paystack not to take a decisive decision after overwhelming evidence of his past behaviors.

You think this guy will be hawking CVs like the everyday graduate?

He cofounded the company, he wasn't employed by it.

He will definitely build another app and will still be fine.
No, Stripe bought that company and kept him as an employee to keep building it. That's why he was fired.

Anybody can build an app. The most difficult thing is getting investors to believe in you and invest in your product. That guy is finished in the tech space.

Nonetheless, he is no longer in charge or part of the decision making process of the company.

Too much ignorance in one comment.

Don't rush to comment on topics you are not conversant with.

I hope he still has a good chunk of that money left with the way he was lending and giving out $55k, $100k etc to friends and those hanging around him. I also read in an interview he gave where he said he was still renting. Having a windfall does not necessarily mean investing it well.

He can never be poor cos as a Co founder he has shares in the company. He just won't be part of decision making. He might still get his salary even based on contract/agreements signed.

You are correct. Although, he is no longer part of daily operations of the business, his shares in paystack still remain intact and he will continue to get dividends. He would just not enjoy salary, free housing, cars with drivers and business travels perks after termination.

Ezra thrown back into the labour market as how nah? You don't know him. That guy was the technical architect behind Paystack's payments infrastructure, a system that handled complex payment processing across multiple African countries with different regulations, currencies, and banking systems. They built it before AI made things easier. That is like being an accountant before calculator or writing was invented.

Beyond writing code, he's one of the most impactful technical builders in African tech. No, he's not back to job hunting. He's a dollar millionaire to begin with. He just needs time to clear his head and build something.

That's the beauty of skills
He can even relax and live off his dividends and income streams from his investments. We're talking of multimillion dollars portfolio here.

Na wa, you want to bring tribalism into this matter. May God have mercy on some of you. I hope you realise that the girl who started the whole thing that unravelled this Ezra's matter, Max Obae, is an Igbo girl. So if you really want to point fingers, maybe first check where the remaining four are pointing.

Sometimes i just imagine myself.

I can build paystack and even a similar platform from scratch, have done jobs like Bank websites to Betting like betnaija and to even Trades... all these from scratch bt to start a fintech company is my own karma.

One thing I've noticed about your comments on nairaland is that they're usually shallow with so much ignorance mixed in them. You think this guy is like every other graduate out there scouting for job? You need to think again. You've allowed your local environment to eat deep into your way of thinking, to the extent where you start thinking up side down.

He's only sacked from the board of directors. His own shares in the company is intact. As a board member, he's entitled to some earnings and allowances. Those parts he has regrettably lost through this sack. But his equity shares is untouchable.

The decision of the board is to preserve the company's name, which is currently at risk and may lead to lost revenues and lower returns. The smart move is to save the company first. The company out lives everyone.
