The applicant's DS-160 is not the reason. The reason is that the applicant has a registerd avits amentum account and you are trying to register another account for him/her.

That apart, you must start your clients visa process with a completed DS-160 (principal applicant) and all traveling member must have completed separate DS-160s.

Also note that there is no group appointment option on Nigeria avits. You can only book Family-group appointment, and be careful with the group visa fee payments procedures.

You do not have to contact avits help-line for authorisation in order to update your DS-160, and having contacted them they only advised you to update (leaving the gap of ) 3- days prior to your interview.

No, you can no longer attend interview with old and new ds-160 because you will be turned back.

If you wait till after the date of your interview (missed your appointment) and later send an email to the embassy for rescheduling they wont respond to you because it would be counted that you deliberately missed your interview, thereby you would need to purchase another visa fee.

Login to your profile right away and request to update your DS-160 by opening a support ticket (DS-160 update is free). Wait till down or tomorrow and print out a new visa appointment letter and look out for the new DS-160 confirmation number in your newly downloaded letter. If it reflect then you have successfully updated.

Otherwise you should reschedule your appointment right now or attend your interview with your old DS-160. 👍

Sometime during their change process, we suddenly got a mail asking her to come for interview in August 2024 but she was in Canada and we couldn't reschedule it because the system move had begun and they asked everyone to wait.

👆 This is where she missed her appointment without notifying the embassy , hence her visa application status is deliberate absent.

Anyway, by the time they had onboarded everyone, for some reason I realized they couldn't validate the payment we made for the first process and frustrated, I abandoned the whole thing.

Yes, they could not validate her payment because the payment is no longer valid because your mum has used it on August 2024 as recorded by the embassy, though she did not attend the interveiw but she did not also notify the embassy so it was counted as a deliberate action.

Would you advise I cancel the appointment request (note that it says I would lose all data or something) and start all over again with a new DS160 application?

Cancel all pending appointment and start all over again. If mama is losing anything that would be old information. Therefore, start afresh by filling another DS-160 form for mum, generate a new visa fee payment and pay. Then after 24hrs log back to book her new appointment.

If you have mentioned (in your ds-160) seeing your former colleague as part of your sojourn in the United States , yes, you can make him or her your point of contact. If otherwise, the manager of the hotel you will be staying can be your guide and a point of contact or any person in authority of one of the places you will be visiting. For example if you are visiting a museum or an amusement park, then, the manager of such places can be mentioned as your point of contact. However, you must have communicated with any person you are mentioning because the US embassy will verify.

As per your DS-160 update, fill a new one and submit, then open a ticket in your avits profile requesting that you want a DS-160 update and after 24hrs, print another appointment letter. 👍
