Iran of 90m fought USA +its proxy Israel(359 million population in total) and after pounding Israel, it forced the US to call for cessation of hostilities. Iran wasn't the one that initiated the ceasefire.

The Isreal surprise attack sanctioned by US which gave the US edge was soon reversed by Iran. If Iran had not reversed it and wrecking severe damage on Israel, Trump would never have reached out to Iran to sheathe the sword.
