If the UK transfers Ekweremadu to Nigeria today, Tinubu will pardon him tomorrow and he will go home the same day.

The Brits understand Nigérian politicians so well. That's why our politicians' request was declined.
Absolutely correct. They know us so well. In fact the so called deligates shouldn't have embacked on the journey. Waste of time and money

The UK should be ashamed of itself for not deporting a former senator that was convicted for organ trafficking.

Is that not modern slavery? Why are they so hellbent on keeping that guy in the UK?
He committed to crime in the UK and was sentenced there, so he remains there to serve his term. UK government doesn't trust Nigeria to make Ekweremadu continue his jail term in Nigeria

Will the Nigerian government let him serve his full sentence if he's send to Nigeria? If he won't be serving the 9 years and 8 months if he's deported, then I see no reason the British government should hand him over.

He will fly home and drive straight to his mansion in Asokoro. They will tell Nigerians that he is remanded in Kuje prison. Who will verify?

Was he arrested or charged for that case in Nigeria?
No surprise though, since you can commit the crime as well, why won't you write thrash here.

Ekweremadu's case is a bitter one but we must learn to read the signs and avoid some things.

The case was politically motivated but unfortunately, he fell into the trap.

The UK government are not ready to release him soon.

Your thinking and mentality is why Nigeria is like this.

You blame the govt, police and judiciary for corruption, But when these corrupt leaders are held accountable you come out to defend them.

How will Nigeria get better when an ordinary citizen like you will see white and call it black?

Who motivated his crime in the U.K politically?

When we say the judicial system should not be influenced by politicians you people said no!

Now other countries do not rate your judiciary to do the right thing. You people will use technicalities to free him thr next day after he arrives in Nigeria.

The judiciary is toss under APC and a rubber stamp for the highest bidder

Remember it is counted day and night... In actual he will only spend 4 years in custody. Two years already gone... He will be officially released in 2027.
You're half right - you got the conclusion right but the reason wrong.

He was sentenced to 9 years 8 months = 116 months total.
UK law says: serve exactly half (50% - 58 months) in prison, the rest on licence outside.

He’s been inside since June 2022 - already done 41 months. 58 months - 41 months =17 months means he'll walk free around April 2027.

The “day and night” thing is a myth please. Every day in jail = just 1 day off the sentence. It only looks short because of the automatic 50 % rule.
