Dear Nairaland family advise me on what to do in this situation cos I'm at my wits end. I made a purchase at a shop sometime in the first week of October, that is last month. I tried to pay with my card. The amount to pay was 24,000 Naira. The POS machine was that of Moniepoint and I paid with a GTB MasterCard. However the transaction failed the first time, then it failed again at the second try. However I was debited the said amount of 24,000 Naira twice. The shop owner showed me proof on her phone that it failed twice and told me to provide my bank details so that she can send a dispense error report to Moniepoint, I provided the details and she sent the report. I had to pay her with cash for the goods I bought. I waited for 5 days and didn't receive a reversal, so I had to go to my bank to report to the customer service unit. After everything they told me to wait for another 5 days. Before the 5 days elapsed, I received a reversal of the 24,000 Naira. But I didn't receive the second reversal of 24,000 naira because I was debited twice in that failed transaction. So I had to go back to GTB, and they told me that the second reversal has to come from Moniepoint, that they had check and the money is not with them. They advised me to go back to that shop and report to the seller so that she can file a complaint to Moniepoint. I went back to the shop again and the lady called her Moniepoint agent from whom she got her pos machine from, and he told her that he'll look into it. After more than a week I called back at the shop to know the status. And she told me that her Moniepoint agent said that they have checked at their own end and the transaction failed, that the money is not with them, and that I should go back to GTB. At this point I'm at loss as to what to do. How does money vanish into thin air without trace when a transaction fails in such case. I'm so sorry for the long post, pls family help me out on the next step I should take now. I will really appreciate your advise. Thanks in advance. |

Are you sure, you were debited twice. Not once, and you received the debit message twice. If certain, then the money should be with GTB bank, not moniepoint |

Adewale1603:Thank you for your reply. Yes I was debited twice, it was also confirmed at GTB that it was twice. But they're saying it's only one of the two debits that is from their end. |

Kokolett:Go back to GTbank and demand for ur money with all seriousness and u will see ur funds reversed. You don't smile with bankers or play to their tune otherwise ur money is gone. How can moniepoint debit you of money being kept in GTBank? |
