DMerciful:I guess they are advocating it to some Northern governors. I think it was the complaints from some Northern states that stalled it because they spoke about their potential inability to fund state police in some of their states. And I think that explains why Tinubu recently asked that the lawmakers should modify the constitution such that any state that wanted state police could go ahead with having one. |

DMerciful:.. where will they get money to fund the state police... money to pay their salaries, allowances monthly, buy AK-47 rifles, weapons and ammunition for the state police, buy patrol vehicles, police uniforms, build police station for state police .. these are governors that are still owing some of their government workers, civil servants arrears of salaries and also owing pensions ..so a lot of financial burden on the governors..so where will they get money to maintain and take care of the state police and pay them |

Don't give settlements to fulanis Regional security outfit is key, to share timely information and patrol the fringes of southern Nigeria with the North, to ensure no infiltration, no nuisance or terrorists come into the north from south. Removing and rehabilitation of almajiris and those scrap bola boys littering the streets and towns of the south, and who constitute a huge security threat to the south, as they are undocumented and untrained, capable of committing crimes and disappearing, as of now, they are destroying manholes, removing bridge railings, destroying government infrastructure to steal iron, send them back to the north to unite with their families. State police is critical, comprised of indigenes of the state. The governors should all stipulate death penalty for jihadists terrorists/kidnappers and bandits and ensure death warrants are signed and convicted ones executed. Too many southerners have been kidnapped, it is a deliberate plan to kidnap us to bankruptcy... calculate ransom payment from south to these northern jihadists terrorists, you will see it's a calculated plan to kidnap us to bankruptcy. We can not love the life of the enemy than ours, that is abnormal. |

DMerciful:I believe that this is not an "excuse". I guess that the Southern Governors, decided to collectively voice their support for state police, perhaps, to let it be on record that they are not the one holding it back. And this can serve as a wake up call for southern lawmakers to push harder for the constitutional amendment that is required at the national bill before state police can become operational. |

Security is the primary responsibility of government. They should reduce capital projects by 40% and use the money to fund the state police ufotunang: |

I mean the southern govs need to be more forceful. When you say advocacy, it means trying to convince others to join. They don't need to convince anybody because the president said those that are willing should start. He just needs to instruct his rubberstamp assembly to pass it immediately teepain: |
| Re: The Resolutions Of The Southern Governors And Traditional Rulers Forum (2025) by ufotunang: 12:30pm On Nov 27, 2025 |
DMerciful:..the main solution is for the government to address and tackle.. poverty, hunger, hardship, rural, villages, communities underdevelopment , high inflation, high costs of living, high rate of unemployment for they say an idle mind is the devil's workshop and an hungry man is an angry man.. and insecurity, kidnapping, banditry and criminal activities will reduce and stop gradually . Even the police due to hardship, hunger, bad economy they can also be an accomplice to this criminal, bandits, terrorists inorder to get money from them to survive the hard economy and hunger, hardship and these things normally happens among some police and military..so it's better for government to address the poverty, hunger, hardship and bad economy |

DMerciful:Okay, I get your perspectives now. And talking about the rubber-stamp national assembly (as you put it) it is not that easy when it comes to a constitutional amendment. For it, to become law 2/3rd of the states house of assemblies have to agree to it. That is where the conundrum is and there is need for tact to convince the northern states on the need to support state policing. Otherwise, it cannot be forced. These are the facts of the matter that we have to live with. No matter how strongly we believe in certain principles, constitutional democracy in a multi-ethnic society like ours, can slow down things. |

Well, APC states are over 2/3 besides if they're not ready, it will be wicked to stop people who are ready because they're not being forced to. If the 17 southern states agree, Wike will agree for Abuja so you just need 6 Northern states. I can tell you that Kwara, Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kogi and Niger will agree because the govs will do what Tinubu tells them teepain: |

These are long term goals but there's already massive insecurity. Where I stay in Canada, the counties have their own police department. Infact, no state prolice, its local govt police and federal police! One local govt police will not go to another local govt to make arrest, they must request from the other local govt ufotunang: |
| Re: The Resolutions Of The Southern Governors And Traditional Rulers Forum (2025) by ufotunang: 4:51pm On Nov 27, 2025 |
DMerciful:..ok no problem..it's not really a long term goal.. when the process starts insecurity will gradually reduce..the earlier the better ... and you know Nigeria police some of them will be an accomplice to this criminals , bandits, terrorists...there are times you see this criminals, bandits, terrorists wearing police and military uniforms.. where do they get this uniforms from..its the police and military men that sells this uniforms to them and also sell their AK 47 rifles, weapons, ammunitiona to them inorder to get money inorder to survive the hard economy, hunger, hardship, inflation, high costs of living ..so.police is not the total solution.. Nigeria is even too big for police and military to secure everywhere .. that is why poverty, hunger, hardship, inflation, high costs of living, high rate of unemployment must be addressed and tackled by the government inorder to reduce the insecurity |

phineas:They say the leopard can't change its spot any more than you can teach sense to those who bask in self deceit. The virus of this nation isn't from the North but of the South West but then, you have agreed to lose your identity and heritage. I pity Kogi and Kwara. |
