On February 7/2019, the Federal High Court in Lagos issued a warrant for the arrest of Oke and his wife Folasade following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Just before they were due to appear in court, they apparently left the country for "medical treatment," and the Nigeria media is not reporting where they are now. The EFCC further declared the couple wanted after their failure to respond to a court summons.

They were charged with the theft and laundering of staggering amounts of public money. One of the EFCC charges relates to roughly $43 million, £28 thousand, and ₦23 million—all in cash—that the EFCC found in their apartment in Lagos in 2017 following a raid. Another charge relates to $160 million that the couple allegedly diverted from the FG for their own use.

In 2017, Oke was suspended as Director General of the NIA. Vice president Yemi Osibaijo headed a committee that investigated the incident and recommended to President Buhari that the he be removed.

The EFCC withdrew the charges in June 2023, less than one month after President Tinubu took oath of office.
At times I found it difficult to understand the type of human being Tinubu is.. Are we not in one chance?

I checked profile I cried for Nigeria.
Rewarded some one that has a criminal case pending.
If they explain Nigeria to you and you understand, it means you need to visit the nearest psychiatric hospital for a mental check up
Re: Profile Of Ayo Oke (Ambassador-designate) by Impecca(m): 12:43am On Nov 27, 2025
Tinubu is the owner of that money. He instigated EFCC prosecutor head to withdraw the case immediately he assumed office as the president. The intelligence gathered about the money got to the Presidency in 2017 under buhari and the man escaped justice and fled the country with his wife until Tinubu assumed office, that was when he returned.

After stealing public funds , most probably for Tinubu, he wants to compensate him. Both of them with criminal records. Tinubu rewarding his kinds.

DSS will see all these and still go ahead and make him an ambassador of Nigeria. A CRIMINAL with several crimes
Re: Profile Of Ayo Oke (Ambassador-designate) by ARISHEM:
Are they saying they have closed that case pertaining to the ikoyi towers 50 million dollars scandal where the owner is still in the dark.
If the senate has integrity they should not accept his confirmation as ambassador.
Our fight against crime and corruption will be a joke if they accept him.
Someone that should be in jail is instead offered an ambassadorial position. This is preposterous.

This man is likely gonna be the NEXT Nigerian Ambassador to the United States.

To all the creeps crying and lashing out right from Page 1, the EFCC found no case against Wale Oke hence the withdrawal of the case. Therefore, it's totally IRRESPONSIBLE for anyone to start casting aspersions on this man because of the past experiences he had under the former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Governance for them is to reward each other...the welfare of the populace is not a concern at all.

What about the corruption charges, has he been discharged and acquitted?
The Senate should not approve his appointment.
There are many questions begging for answers.

I don't have the time to start rehashing Ayo Oke's full story which is has been in the public domain for those who are internet-savvy enough. BUT you can read these two articles right BELOW to get a proper hang about how the EFCC (with the full knowledge of the former President Muhammadu Buhari) dropped the charges against Ayo Oke after Ayo Oke conclusively showed Magu (who was the EFCC boss as of 2017) that the 43 million kept in a safe haven apartment on Ikoyi Island as of 2017 was NOT from the proceeds of "crime or corruption" BUT for the official covert intelligence gathering operations of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) which is the equivalent of the CIA dealing largely with international intelligence operations. The DSS deals more with Nigerian-basef intelligence operations.

A lot of the young posters casting IRRESPONSIBLE aspersions and negative comments on this thread about Ayo Oke are majorly recognizable monikers of those from the South East of Nigeria (and the other thread created on Ayo Oke's profile by that moderator) who have an agenda to relentlessly defame and demonize the current Nigerian President based on their usual tribalistic biases.

Unknown to these insidious posters who don't read widely enough, the former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency Ayo Oke had long been exhonerated of ANY crimes even before the former President Muhammadu Buhari left. So, it wasn't even President 'Bola Tinubu that had a hand in the EFCC exhonerating and dropping the charges against Ayo Oke.

Look, many of the young posters casting IRRESPONSIBLE aspersions and negative comments on this thread about the former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (or NIA), Ayodele Oke are majorly recognizable monikers of those from the South East of Nigeria (and the other thread created on the profile of Dalhatu on NL today) who have an agenda to relentlessly spread disinformation, defame and demonize the current Nigerian President as corrupt based on their well-known tribalistic biases.

Unknown to these insidious posters here who act like lemmings and DON'T read widely enough, the former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke had long been exhonerated of ANY crimes even before the former President Muhammadu Buhari left office. So, it wasn't even President 'Bola Tinubu that had a hand in the EFCC exonerating and dropping the charges against Ayodele Oke. Due diligence was followed and it was CLEARLY shown by Ayodele Oke (when he met with Magu, the then EFCC Chairman) that the 43 million found in that Ikoyi Island apartment used as a safe-haven was for the covert international intelligence gathering operations of the National Intelligence Agency (the Nigerian equivalent of the CIA) then headed by Ayo Oke and NOT money from the proceeds of corruption. Period.

Right BELOW are two link sources of EVIDENCE showing how the then NIA boss, Ayodele Oke defended himself as of 2017 and the EFCC was satisfied with his explanation hence with the firm knowledge of the former President Muhammadu Buhari, he was certified OK for the charges to be dropped. One again, Ayodele Oke is NOT a crook or steal any money like many of these creeps have been posting on this thread like lemmings. Period.

You have a point. But my point is equally valid. There is always a true version of events and the version the government decides to put out for whatever reason.

Recently, it was alleged in the public domain that there was an attempted coup comprised of mainly middle belt and northern military men.

Arrests were made, Service chiefs were changed, but till today, the statehouse did not acknowledge the coup attempts and said the arrests of the planners were merely for disciplinary infractions.

So while I do not dispute the veracity of your narration of what actuall transpired, my " protect and reward brothers" assertion is also very valid.

In Nigeria corruption cases come and go depending on your relationship with the current holders of executive power.

Obanikoro, Orji Kalu, Lamido Sanusi, Ganduje,Fani Kayode,Yahaya Bello are all testaments to this phenomenon.

@Otipoju

I appreciate your further CLARITY and insightful feedback here.

About that alleged coup plot and the subsequent denials by the Federal Government and the Military spokesperson, there are indeed times when Intel is withheld from the public all over the world. BUT it would also be to the benefit of the current Nigerian President 'Bola Tinubu to ensure that there is prompt daily and/or communication updates with the public starting from Tinubu himself to his media aides.
NOT doing so gives room for FALSE rumors and disinformation by non-state actors (such as these paid ipob troll farms who the "BBC Global Disinformation Team" investigative video report on ipob's campaign of toxic hate speech and massive online disinformation, revealed in 2022 were recruited with salaries, free laptops and free monthly internet data given to recruited trolls in their thousands to spread toxic hate and online disinformation) via rogue YouTube channels and other social media platforms like FB, X, (and even NL) since 2014.

President Tinubu MUST learn to ALWAYS communicate directly with Nigerians living in the Motherland and in the Diaspora (via TV and
YouTube at least once a week just like Obama used to do instead of just clamming up about issues or using his media aides to channel his thoughts to Nigerian folks).

Second, I totally agree with you about these cases of alleged political corruption by past Governors and politicians dating back to the OBJ years. Nigeria is a country that has an enervating judicial system and It's NOT rocket science to FULLY digitize their court operations to fast-track court cases. Just like President 'Bola Tinubu and his team have done well by unbundling the Nigerian insurance sector to take advantage of the full gamut of benefits that global insurance has to offer, and the power generation to was removed from the exclusive list to the concurrent list to enable States to now build power stations and generate electricity, the judiciary is one ecosystem that requires FULL unbundling and use of virtual conferencing, computerization/the use of AI technologies in dispensing criminal justice because the EFCC complained as well that the Judges have a lot of workloads and that has slowed the cases of some of these politicians in court down.

Cheers.

You have to get your FACTS right. What you posted right above is totally FALSE and the OP of this thread is to largely to blame for NOT adding further CLARITY to his post which I have already done by adding two Weblinks for you to read BELOW.

The man, Ayodele Oke who was the DG (boss) of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) was found to be totally innocent of any acts of corruption in 2017 when 43 million of Nigeria's money was found in the Ikoyi Island apartment and the case has since been dropped even before former President Buhari left office. The OP of this thread too is partly responsible for NOT clarifying this aspect in his post for the readers here hence the negative responses from a lot of posters on this thread who are NOT well-informed about the so-called "Ikoyi Gate" case. Ayo Oke has had many years of distinguished service in the intelligence agencies culminating in him becoming the NIA boss
. NIA is the equivalent of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for covert international operations. He is therefore over qualified for an Ambassadorial position.
