Racheal45:Is the issue of security about money? Did the government complain of not having enough money to solve security issues? Do you know how many billions of naira the government have budgeting for security and security votes to governors? |

kunle4toyeyaho:My argument is that the money spent on that road should've been channeled to power generation, transmission and distribution. Tinubu asked state governors to start taking care of those areas, but he didn't bother to check how many is investing in it. How much do states have to invest in power? Those trillions he's wasting on that useless road should've formed a counterpart fund for states willing to invest in power. The FG pays 50% and has a 50% stake in power project proceeds, while states and private players will pay the 50% between them. There can never be rapid growth without adequate power generation. In fact, tech cannot even thrive in an environment where there's no power. Running a country isn't rocket science; we just have the dumbest of us leading us with their even dumber supporters hailing everything they do. |

Nigerians are just too insensitive to reality…what he said is absolutely correct..:the expensive road is a misplaced responsibility at the time of this huge insecurity in the country and the problems with Nigerians is that they put emotions into everything…the road project that doesn’t have accountability but using it to embezzle funds…Nigerians are unnecessarily making these leaders too comfortable when someone said the right thing to make the government sit well …all you will do is yo go against who is fighting for you…Nigeria future is so bleak |

Quest7777:You’re part of the problems of Nigeria. How can you reason this way?. Are you educated at all?. Developed countries are building lasting roads with modern technology, but you still want to patch roads azikwe, awolowo and tafawa balewa constructed centuries ago. Are you cursed not to meet up with standards?. Dubai’s tourism that is just how many years old, go and check the way they invested massively in new infrastructure, but you still want to fix old roads and be using 13 hrs for a 6hrs journey. Wake up and think progressively and not regressively. |

Quest7777:It seems you are not aware that this coastal road was part of the major project infrastructure mandatory to be provided after the civil war for the purpose of national reconciliation, rehabilitation and reconstruction policy. While the similar RRR projects located in the north were constructed, that of the south , particularly this coastal highway was completely abandoned by most of the heads of state/presidents predominately from the north. The north never and would never construct this coastal highway as they see that it will widen the development gap between the north and south, instead they opted to concentrate on the north and Abuja. It takes a determined southern president to actualize this project. If it is stopped, forget, you can kiss infrastructure development in the south goodbye because the north will never do it. This is the best opportunity for the south for this project. It will be enough as a major gift to the south by this presidency. My home is directly in the Niger Delta and this project will positively impact our people. |

Racheal45:insecurity is deliberate n won't go away even if all money is spent on it. I dont support coastal road as an idea but stopping it for insecurity is a useless idea when the sponsors of insecurity are known but unchallenge-able and untouchable by even the president himself. Atoku son is being clever here. |

asfrank:Building more roads, is important. Alternative road networks are key infrastructures and everyone is entitled to their opinions but many brainstorm on such matters before embarking on it. I believe we should allow those in government to build such infrastructures. Rehabilitation of old roads alone may not solve matters but new roads with latest technology are straight and usually better in every way sha |

When they are tired of the kidnapping and banditry they should tell their brother to stop, some of there advocate were calling them political freedom fighters. Atiku son should ask his father to tell his kinsman to stop the banditry business. |

Racheal45:The reason why people are reacting is because bako haram has taking different shape and translates to all manner of criminal act , and has extended to other parts of the country. Now, when it started their people supported them, did you remember one of their leaders who reported the matter at the international criminal court? What does that mean to you? Now the issue is, why should the funds that are supposed to develop my region, be diverted to your region where you allowed insecurity to trive, after-all the resources is from the oil region where the coaster road is being constructed. |

SmartPolician:Power sector needs more hands, power generation is not something only the government should run, it’s a capitalist economy, there should be competitions. The state governments won’t be successful either if they don’t partner with private bodies.. The hope the nation has is private bodies to invest in that sector and not just importing generators and solar panels. Power generation investment is beyond importing generators and solar systems. If there’s no solid competition in the power sector, the power grid will never be something the nation will be proud of. |

Quest7777:In as much as I am no fan of PBAT. Let me give you an insight. Those who argue that we should focus on the repair of the existing road network fail to realize that as we move everything by road, the existing road network will keep deteriorating faster within months of repairs. 1) Most of our road networks were poorly constructed abinitio,, you can see some of the roads already going bad before commisioning and the resources to fully re-construct them with quality materials is no longer available. Besides it makes more sense to decentralize the roads with new ones through a different routes. Every truck going from 35states and Abuja from lagos must pass through Lagos -Ibadan Expressway way. No other road Corridor. And for nearly 50yrs. It has been the same. How long can over-used road last? Especially with petroleum tankers frequent explosion leaving many of the roads in ruins. While it is ok to repair the existing roads, we need to open new roads so the existing ones will not be over-used. Imagine if those going through Many towns and villages along Lagos -Calabar highway and Badagry-Sokoto high way will boycott Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and use the alternatives being constructed. This will free up traffic and make the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway last longer. Just imagine a family of 10 using one car, the driver will drop the husband to work, come back and take the wife also to work in a different direction, take 3 of the children to different school. Go back to to the wife to take her to Balogun market for shopping, go back and take each of the kids back home, do same.for the husband and when the driver complain the car is over-used and it is rapidly developing faults and the family needs to get additional car, everyone thinks fixing the fault is all that is required, forgetting that over-use will automatically shorten the life-span. Have you wondered why commercial vehicle engines do not last as much as private ones? My point here is. Lagos -Ibadan Expressway was constructed in the 70's. About 50years ago , like most roads in Nigeria, when the population of Nigeria was about 60million, a truly developing country must add additional roads infrastructure to the existing ones every year. It is myopic to assume that the construction of additional roads is unimportant for economic development of our country. If anything, development of any town is usually followed after the road is opened. I can understand opposition politicians condemning it because they see it as a plus or legacy for the incumbent and it is in their interest to condemn everything and anything so the people will have no reason to vote the incumbent. But for discerning Nigerians, as many roads as the politicians are willing to contruct should be a welcome idea because if they do not use the money now, it may end up being stolen. If Badagry to Sokoto highway or Lagos Calabar highway is abandoned now, there is no guarantee the money will be used for what some people consider "more important " Therefore, is it not better to have these additional roads constructed to free up the over-used state of the existing roads? |
