Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has reiterated his belief in Nigeria’s untapped agricultural wealth. Speaking on Wednesday at Imperial College London during an interactive session with Nigerian students, Obi emphasized that the country stands to earn far more from agriculture than from oil—if only the right investments and policies are made. He urged young Nigerians to envision a future where Nigeria’s farms, not its oil wells, drive national prosperity.

Agriculture is so old-school. Look at Switzerland and Japan. One is banking, the other is cars.

Nigeria has the intellect to become one of the financial capitals of the world. Instead of yahoo yahoo, we can become an IT/computer capital.

I think this is the best time for the East to team with the North to take power. Let Obi join El rufai and Atiku in ADC, we don't mind VP position so far our demands are met. Our southern neighbours always play politics of betrayal, thinking they are master strategist. Let's drop this our self righteousness and embrace politics of betrayal.

Nigeria doesn't have what it takes to lead in tech....unless you are talking about leading in the African tech space. We don't have the kind of money countries like USA and China invest in tech research. We can only use tech as a side hustle as we currently do.

Agriculture is the only area Nigeria has a clear competitive advantage because you don't have to invest so much in it. We have arable land and people. We just lack visionary leadership that will convert agriculture to a massive mechanized business. Despite that, the biggest contributor to our GDP is still agriculture. We can grow massive cash crops and export to the world.
