I think Huawei odu may be the best, both the odu and idu have all the necessary settings for everything, airtel is very poor in my area but I'm getting this with 5g and it's stable as long as it remains in 5g , but with 4g the speed won't even be up to 1mbps, that's how bad the network is
The Yeye installer even did a terrible job, he mount it vertically.

If you are using ZTE ODU, you must use the poe that it can with. But ZLT ODU is powdered from the IDU WAN port.
Warning ⚠️ Never try interchange ZTE and ZLT ODU power source.
It will end badly, I'm talking from experience.
ZTE ODU is powdered by 48v while ZLT is 24V.
I used ZTE powerbank to power the ZLT and it fryed/burned🔥 both the ZLT IDU and ODU. I'm waiting for Airtel to come and pick it up because they said after 3 months of no subscription they'll come and carry ur ODU 😂

Location! Location!! Location!!!

You have 5G and that's good and it contributes to the speed.

The Huawei device is good but not enough evidence yet to conclude it's the best.
I will still get it if it reaches my location.

If anything, the ZTE G5F beats them all in theoretical numbers. And, by the way, it has the least number of bands but that's made possible by Airtel, through their software. The router has more bands than are shown in the Airtel software.

I think there is an issue with the physical SIM, let me explain.

This morning, I inserted the SIM inside a phone and I got a SIM swap success message which mean it now work fully. I tried calling with the SIM expecting to hear that I can't make call with it just like other router SIM, but the reverse was the case, the call features is working on it.

Back to the e-sim in my ODU router, the e-sim still work perfectly without an issue and I thought it would have been blocked for the physical SIM to start working, but NO, it is working 100%.

So I inserted the SIM into the ODU and change the SIM settings to physical, it shows network signal which mean it has detected the SIM inside but it does not browse. But when I change the SIM settings back to built-in-sim the internet started working.

And also it shows that the e-sim is also activated. What could be the issue here?

Does it mean the SIM swap was not properly swap to ODU SIM or what??

N.B: the swap was done at the Airtel office
You may have to contact Airtel customer service and ask them to check on the system if the swap was successful. You can then proceed from there.

I have seen the issue, the agent swap another number for me. My number ended with 39 but he ended it with 93 and that is the reason.

I was worried yesterday when the e-sim was still working after the swap, I know it should have stop working immediately the swap was initiated, irrespective of whether it was approved or decline, that should be a normal procedure incase of SIM theft etc

Boss check your POE Lan port, it's fried too..
I did the same thing I was lucky it fried only the LAN transformer ic of my POE.
I have placed the order for the ic. Cost me about 8k from AliExpress ..
Like is said earlier don't interchange the ZTE and ZLT ODU and IDU.

Those agents can be quite unprofessional sometimes. Does the swapped number belong to you?

I suppose they did fresh registration for him instead of a swap. If not, this is a major security breach - you are not supposed to be able to swap a sim you don't own.

With the requirement of facial matching, name matching and NIN, those agents aren't supposed to able to swap a line that doesn't belong to the customer. I don't know about now, but I know those agents are not given bypass access.

Like I was shocked. The swapped number does not belong to me which mean the owner of the number that was swapped we not be able to use his line again until he visited the Airtel office.

No wonder I use to see complaints from people on their X/twitter page that their SIM just stop working and they don't know the reason for that. This is actually what was always happening.

Imagine they mistakenly swap your SIM number to a fraudster, that mean all your money in your bank account would be gone within a minute and you will be wondering what is going on.

I asked the agent that, after he inputted the number on their system, didn't he see the name that pop up before swapping the SIM but he refused to answer the question.

Another red flag is that, they won't give you any form to filled atlease for record purposes, they just asked you for your number and that is it. Tell me how the real owner going to cleared himself that he didn't request for SIM swapped.... To be honest, this is just stupidity.

Finally, he did it again with the correct number and the SIM has started working now and the e-sim has stopped working.

But we are cooked in this country

is not a fresh registration, it is SIM swap and I also got the success message of the SIM swap.

Infact I checked the balance of that SIM and it shows someone is using it because there is loan of 200 airtime and the balance is 0.39 naira.

Airtel really need to work on their tech.

Also tried reading people's complaints on Airtel twitter page and you will see complaints related to this

If you checked the screenshot, the first swapped success message is for the wrong number which was in the morning around 10am

The second message is the one for my number which he did it again and I got the success message not quite long this afternoon. You can see the time.

This is actually very concerning. What if the owner had SmartCash?

Indeed, it's a worrying situation. The fact that a customer's line can be swapped without his consent is very worrying, even with the introduction of NIN and all the restrictions.

I am good. Now worries at all. I understand.

I went to their head office in Abuja and I was Informed that the Huawei ODU was never sent to their Abuja shops. I think the Huawei stock they got was very limited in quantity. What they have here is the ZLT. Though I was informed that they're in talks with Huawei to restock.

These ones could be that the Sims damaged and need swapping.

The problem is when they try their numbers and they ring and even get picked up by someone else.

I read these earlier with curiosity but couldn't comment, waiting to get home to properly check mine. I use the ZTE ODU (G5F) and its UPS came with a 12V adapter. I was curious because I use the UPS to power the IDU I am using now, which is ZTE MC801A, which I am 100% sure is powered by either a 12V adapter or its UPS, which is also 12V.

To further reconfirm, I just used a multimeter to read the power cable from the adapter and also read the voltage coming out from the UPS (DC OUT), which I use to power MC801A, both of them read about 13 - 14V; which means they are indeed 12V as rated.

The UPS is also 48W, which is a power rating and not the unforgiving voltage rating.

My hypotheses on what happened to your routers:

1. The ZLT device (I don't have it; I have not seen it up close) might be rated significantly differently from the ZTE ODU - say the purported 24V or perhaps something lower like 6V.

2. There might exist different polarities between the two devices. This is unlikely as most DC adapters have the outer terminal of their plugs to be negative and the inner parts of the plugs to be positive.

3. Maybe you guys got a different version of the ZTE ODU from the one I got.

4. The issue might stem from trying to use the ZLT IDU LAN port to power the ZTE ODU and not from the voltage difference.

that's exactly what will happen to SIM that was swapped. You will get SIM not found or what did you think will just make SIM inside your phone to start telling you SIM not found

From this pix, output power LAN is 48v. This is ZTE PoE.
The LAN in of the PoE gives around 3-4v( which is normal with all LAN.
The WAN of ZLT( which powers the ZLT ODU) gives out about 24v.
This is why ZLT IDU cannot power ZTE ODU.
And if you try to connect the ZLT IDU to ZTE Poe, it will fry the POE cos it gives out 24v which the Poe LAN IN cannot handle (3-4v)

The power adapter is 12v but the modifications on the boards can boost the voltage to 24v-48v.
