The former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo did declare states of emergency in two different states during his presidency: Plateau State (2004): Obasanjo declared a six-month state of emergency in Plateau State on May 18, 2004, following weeks of violent conflict between Christian and Muslim communities. The elected government and legislature were suspended, and Governor Joshua Dariye was suspended and later probed for money laundering in Britain. Ekiti State (2006): A state of emergency was also declared in Ekiti State in October 2006, leading to the suspension of the governor, his deputy, and the state legislature. Jonah Jang served as the Governor of Plateau State from 2007 to 2015, which was after Obasanjo's presidency ended in 2007. While Jang has faced various political and legal challenges during and after his time as governor, he was not the governor of Plateau State during the 2004 state of emergency declared by Obasanjo. Jonah Jang's Later Involvement: Jonah Jang later served as the Governor of Plateau State from 2007 to 2015. Years after the 2004 incident, in 2018, Jang claimed that attempts to link him to criminal activities and later killings in his senatorial zone were a deliberate political plan to stop him from participating in the 2019 elections, though this was unrelated to the original 2004 Obasanjo emergency declaration. festacman:Yes, bad mouth that keeps getting him into trouble. He should thank his stars that Ayo Fayose did not smash his coconut head with the microphone. How can you collect somebody’s $20,000 and still attend his birthday just to insult him after orchestrating his removal from office decades earlier? You think I would forgive him too if I was in Fayose’s shoes? His holier-than-thou attitude is what always piss me off. From 1999 till 2007, he was blind to all the problems bedeviling Nigeria. He introduced Ghana-Must-Go Politics to the National Assembly, not to talk of the $16 Billion he & Atiku siphoned on Electricity. He never empowered any youth, and sought to rule Nigeria for a third term thinking he was presiding over docile citizens of Uganda, Guinea, Burundi, Gabon, Rwanda & Cameroon, only for him to start acting like a messiah after leaving office. For 8 Years, He left the Sango-Ota-Abeokuta Express Way in a deplorable state while writing nonsensical letters up & down just to stay relevant, and the scandal of sleeping with Mojisola (Gbenga - his son’s wife) is still there.
