In the "what's trending" segment of the "morning show" on 27 November, Arise news aired a story where they claimed that two Reverend fathers, Rev fr John Igwebueze and Rev fr Matthew Eya were murdered by IPOB/ESN elements. They used this story to highlight what they called selective outrage over killings Nigeria. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVhGERRf7JM?si=M2lVasq422kKu1h4&t=1313 However, the Catholic diocese of Nsukka issued a disclaimer against the station's misleading narrative. The Channel in it's 28 November edition of the program appeared to correct themselves but failed to take responsibility. Media houses should double check information before putting it out for public consumption. IPOB is a banned group in Nigeria. This means that they are unable to go to any licensed media station to correct perceived misrepresentations. Also, the nature of separatist agitation in the southeast makes security agents more of a party to the crisis than a neutral actor. Therefore, Responsible and professional journalism in this case demands that statements put out by even security operatives should be double checked by media organisations before broadcast. 27 Likes 1 Share |

You guys could have used this magical crime solving powers to tell us who killed 40 people in Bassa, Plateau state, 80 people in Danko-Wasagu, Kebbi State, and 150 people in Yelwata, Benue State.
