Bitcoin..

In that 2014, Btc was around $40k or so..

Today, it’s almost $100k or so..
If you put $1000 in BTC today, you will wait for this price to double to earn $1000 profit. So stop recommending BTC as investment unless it goes back to $1 or $100 for small investors to have meaningful ROI. $10 in BTC in 2009 is not same as $1000 in 2025 😂

In 2014, Many of us ignored investing because we don't know what to invest in.

Now we’re asking again:

What investment do you think we should invest in so we don't regret it 10 years from now?
Invest in yourself and any reasonable business idea you have.

There is no other investment bigger than personal development.

Invest in skill acquisition.

Invest in business seminars and training.

Invest in that business idea you have in mind.

If you want to invest in company shares, please buy US company shares, it's doable from Nigeria or any other African country you maybe reading this comment from.

Don't invest in crypto, it has surpassed it's seed phase, it's in the harvest and extinct phase, it's either it booms further or die a natural death.

If you want assets that are constantly growing and rarely drop in value, the answer is simple: Land or Gold.

I call them generational wealth builders grin. Just look at the math: a plot bought for ₦1 million three years ago will surely not sell for less than ₦2 million or ₦3 million now. That’s the kind of appreciation you want.
Land has always been gold. But it is still inflation... Then there is risk (one tribalist or another corrupt minister can show up and say, your papers are fake, go back to your state).

Investing in landed properties in Nigeria is no longer a secure investment for the future, especially in Lagos state and some part of Abuja, all thanks to our unreliable, tribalist politicians.

It should be AI. The richest men right now are investing heavily in it. Pick a part of AI and learn about it very well and if you have money, invest in reliable AI stocks. Thank me later.
You have not hear of "AI Bubble".
Its value is over estimated and it is not a wise ten years investment, just a short term that you dump before the impending crash.

Do you research. It an appreciating investment when stored for long term when measured against fiat currency. It’s a store of value but it also plays a role of an appreciating investment with time.
Lol! You should research it. I've known this since secondary school. I don't think a lot has changed.

If the currency doesn't depreciate, your chances of selling at x10 or x20 is really optimistic. It's a store of value for long-term with the hope that your currency depreciates.

Imagine buying some gold rings or jewelries for N10m with the hope to sell it for N50m in 5-10 years. That's some really optimistic move! If the currency doesn't depreciate, that would be harder.

The reason why a Corolla sold for N2M is sold for N5M today isn't because of appreciation, it's because of the depreciation of the currency.

Don't forget, there are now advanced methods of refining gold, and there are more discoveries of gold. The projection in the future is looking good. Economically speaking, you know what this means for the next 10-20 years.

Let’s Forget buying land in prime areas that are already overly expensive. The real money is made when you buy low.

The best strategy is to focus on developing areas or the immediate fringes of the city. You need to identify that 'sweet spot'—land that is currently undeveloped but not so remote that it falls into deep rural zones with no infrastructure. Once the government or private developers bring in roads and basic services, that land will appreciate, giving you the massive returns you are looking for.

The best investment is to get out now why you can

In 2003 my wife suggested we move to Swiss with our twins.

It was easy because we both have family members there.

My mum was old and she wouldn't have any of it.

She and our children left why I was left with my mum.

I reason this woman is more than 80 years let me go and enjoy before the real tinubulation go start.

This is just testing the mic.

If you live outside Nigeria where you can use pay.pal wise and other services Nigerian cannot use see.

Life will be easy
You can easily sit at home and make money with surveys.
You can easily set up a kdp Ingram and d2d account publish books and make money
You can also blog write about things affecting 50+ and be an international speaker without knowing anybody.

But why trying to find a way to get out if you're internet sarvy do this.

Learn how to write video or speak what people are interested in.

This is important let me repeat again

Learn to produce what people what not what you think they want.

Pioneers come home full of arrows don't be a pioneer.

Take what works and make it better.

Most people saying buy land I can bet don't own any piece of land.

The problem with land is there are many scammer even posing with lawyer's.

If you buy wrong land e fit lead to your demise.

Or you get an enemy for life.

Here's my secret for buying land.

Pay attention.

I only buy land on distressed sale I.e the person or group of person what to sell it for a particular urgent need.

All parties even those against the sale must know...I've a way of finding out the parties against the sale.

If the land/property is a legacy and someone is opposing the sale...I walk away.

If its not I find the reasons for the opposition and work at resolving it if possible.

Then get all parties to an understanding

We take pictures for evidence, I collect family receipt, I pay money and secure the property.

If you buy legacy one of them fit hammer 20 years latter and take you to court to go waste money and even win you...because justice is for sell here.

Invest in yourself by finding a better country to live

But the value of 3 million naira now is way less than 1 million naira 3 years ago. Hence, there's no ROI on the land. The only good thing is, if the land hadn't been procured that time, the money would have been long spent and forgotten.
You are wrong on the ROI even if we go by dollar value.
A property purchased 10,000 dollars in 2022 at black market rate of 612 Naira is worth not less than ×4 the Naira rate now at 1,462 to a dollar.Multiply in Naira (6,120,000×4=24,480,000) Remove $10,000 the purchasing amount, you discover it is over 50% dollar returns on investment.
For decades I have done this as a side hustle. The prevalent hardship has make it more lucrative where property owners that bought in few thousands are now selling in millions.
Property investment has very good returns. But never invest if you don't have the time and on the job training to conduct assessment

Not entirely true sir.

Some land do depreciate and there's nothing you can do about it.

Always do your findings well before buying

Ogun state.

Ogun state borders Lagos state, so it's not far from Lagos. Because of this, lots of people are buying land in Ogun state, so land in Ogun state is appreciating at a very rapid rate.

Places like Ikorodu and Mowe (and their environs) in Ogun state are developing quite fast.

It is good Nigerian youths are waking up and asking the right questions.

1) Gold must appreciate. 18kt and above only please. Ensure it is original and don't buy the one with design because when you want to sell, they take off the designs and weigh only the gold.

2) You can try any money market fund. Most banks offer them and you can handle it yourself remotely through apps like Bamboo, Afriinvestor 2.0 and Optimum. I heard Cowrywise does it too, but I am not used to its UI, so I abandoned the app. Keep compounding your money (i.e) don't pull out your interest.

3) Land. Sha no buy land for weird places. If you see where get prospects, you go know. If you have a stable income, put 3 rooms on top and commot hand. Don't be pressured to build duplex and you will na be building it for 25yrs, yet the house no go ever complete. With a property of your own, you have knocked out rent in your retirement. I always thank God my parents built houses in their youth. I cannot imagine paying millions on rent in Lagos or anywhere.

4) Stocks. When your bank starts selling, they will definitely let customers know. Focus on market leaders in different sectors.

5) Some people say agriculture. I don't know of this, but I know someone who inherited his late father's palm tree plantation and he is balling. They have a palm oil mill and every byproduct of it is useful. Palm kernel is used for palm kernel oil and the shell is also used for what I don't know.
gold must appreciate, a correlation, not a guarantee. gold's primary utility is as a store of value against fiat debasement not a high growth investment.

gold is for capital preservation and crisis liquidity not speculative growth.

banks are centralized points of failure. they are subject to local capital controls, inflation, potential collapse and government seizure. your funds are not truly yours.
