Governor Mbah Receives Outgoing, Incoming Commanders Of Ogurugu Naval Base

Governor Mbah receives outgoing, incoming commanders of Ogurugu Naval Base Uzo Uwani, pledges deeper collaboration

Governor Peter Mbah on Friday received the outgoing Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Navy NNS Madueke, Ogurugu Naval Base, Uzo Uwani LGA, Navy Commodore A. O. Odejobi, who has been redeployed to Naval Headquarters, along with his successor, Navy Commodore N. Frinday.

Governor Mbah thanked Commodore Odejobi for what he described as his “outstanding service, professionalism, and deep partnership with the Enugu State Government,” noting that his leadership significantly strengthened security along the lower Anambra River corridor.

Welcoming Commodore Frinday, the governor assured him of the state’s full support and closer collaboration. He said Enugu was investing in modern security systems, intelligence-driven operations, and infrastructural upgrades to help transform NNS Madueke into a more active operational base.

According to him, “our goal is to enhance riverine safety, improve navigational access, support agro-logistics around Ogurugu Port, and strengthen our shared mission against criminal activities.”

He added that the Navy remains central to Enugu’s agricultural expansion, agro-industrial development, and river transport plans, and pledged continued cooperation to ensure safe waterways and sustained peace in riverine communities.

Enugu has no business with Naval Base, misplaced priority. Even though I know the former chief of Naval staff Ogallah brought it there.

Im wondering qhat thwy need a naval base un Uzo-uwani for. Which sea or river.
But the people have really suffered in the hamds of the fulla..ni marauding bands.
If this will reduce the bloodshed then so be it.
My ex is from theee she has had so many family members taken away by these jihadis wickedness

There's always a navy base anywhere with significant body of water.
There's one in lokoja, kogi State.

The Omambala River flows through Anambra State, Enugu state and Kogi before joining the Niger River on it's way to the Atlantic Ocean.
It originates from the Udi highlands in Enugu State.
