The Political Calculations That Turned Reno Into An Ambassador by motymop(op): 2:17pm On Nov 30, 2025
Reno didn’t become an ambassador by accident. His rise is the result of clear political and media calculations that made him the right person at the right time.

First, his nomination fits Nigeria’s long-standing tradition of ethnic and regional balancing. Sharing the same background with the First Lady positioned him naturally for consideration.

Second, Reno has something most public figures don’t, media firepower. He defended Nigeria loudly, consistently and in front of international audiences. From challenging accusations of Christian genocide to correcting misinformation, he became a reliable voice for the country.

Third, politics rewards loyalty. Reno took heat, stood firm and pushed national narratives even when it wasn’t popular. Governments always remember people who fight their battles publicly.

Fourth, he brings international visibility and cultural representation. He wears Nigerian attire everywhere, showcases the culture boldly, and connects with diaspora communities, a soft-power asset any administration wants.

Finally, there’s the power of strategic controversy. Whether people agree with him or not, Reno commands attention. In politics, visibility is currency and he is never ignored.

Everyone must be paid as long as their opinions are different from una

Meanwhile, nobody send una to be supporting in vain

All factored in, we can all agree that he earned the appointment.
Re: The Political Calculations That Turned Reno Into An Ambassador by LibertyRep: 2:58pm On Nov 30, 2025
I do not know if anyone has defended Nigeria and by extension the current government in recent times, more than Reno.
Man is always ready, 'gun-ablazing' to drop receipt.

You may argue he's doing that to curry favour, but isn't that what politicians do?

This is a guy who swore on live TV that he would never work with Tinubu

To get political appointments now you have to be a lier, hypocrite and a$$licker, all rolled into one, like Reno Omokri
Re: The Political Calculations That Turned Reno Into An Ambassador by Dogalmighty17: 3:41pm On Nov 30, 2025
Why has Reno Omokri( Wendell Simlin) been rewarded by the government while Nnamdi Kanu stays in prison? Reno Omokri as a spokesman for MEND, did far more to damage the territorial integrity of Nigeria. He celebrated when Nigerian army troops were attacked and killed. He boasted of MEND's ability to attack as far as Lagos which they did. Today the same Reno claims he is a lover of Nigeria?

Reno's appointment is a welcome development.

Congratulations to him

I'm having a feeling that reno will be rejected during screening on some funny ground, just like they did with the case of El rufai, if this happens, I see Reno going back to his old days of insulting Mr president again.

Tinubu is simply exposing the hypocrites in our midst and teaching Nigerians strong lessons that everyone has a price including those who pose as of they are doing whatever they claim to do out of love for the masses
If Nigerians don't learn under Tinubu, I doubt they can ever learn

Reno Omokri: The ambassador we never knew we needed.

Peter Obi also swore never to leave APGA. How come things you people accused others for are things you Master. That's sheer hypocrisy
Re: The Political Calculations That Turned Reno Into An Ambassador by floss(m): 4:36pm On Nov 30, 2025
Normally Reno displayed the regular Yoruba people character, that’s the only criteria that made him qualified for the position… because a typical Yoruba person lacks integrity and their words don’t hold water except their stomach…

If Atiku faced the same humiliation Tinubu faced from Reno if Atiku was the president, Reno would’ve been given jail time appointment instead of being nominated for ambassador. Tinubu saw his people in Reno…

I’m happy for Reno, truly dishonesty pays in Nigeria…. grin grin
Re: The Political Calculations That Turned Reno Into An Ambassador by EnEnPeecee: 4:37pm On Nov 30, 2025
Did Tinubu go to his house and beg him to do that dirty job ? The answer is NO. He needed a job and the only way to get the job is to defend nonsense

I hope you know diplomats are not attention seekers. Also know that he now represents EVERY NIGERIAN, if he passes Senate screening. So you can't attack your own citizens as an ambassador. Ambassadors are usually cunning and very tactful but they are not aggressive, they are careful with their choice of words.
