American analysts gave an alarming report that Christians in Nigeria are being killed recently and this sparked a big debate that some Nigerians felt was over reported and others including Americans believing its accuracy. Are Christians in Nigeria truly being killed in large numbers? (ABSTRACT THOUGHTS) - People are killed in Nigeria particularly in the northern part of Nigeria but the killing of Christians remains a sample population report - from the pictures showing crisis aftermath in northern Nigeria, we see virtually all tribes and people of various religious faith affected. The reports mostly received on social media are often misinterpreted and transmitted all over the world. These information, become convenient sources that further spread to other people via word of mouth and in quick time, it becomes news that people expect you to believe. America is a respected authority and anything that comes out of America is regarded "Authentic" including the information she disseminates. The accuracy of information from American researchers and analysts can be given a tentative 80% score mark based on their track record of scientific research - nevertheless, one cannot omit the fact that Americans can be fantastic Story-Tellers rather than Fact-Tellers - Why? - Americans don't live in Nigeria and they can only be informed by Nigerians. For example: If a biased Nigerian holds a conversation with an American researcher or analysts, the researcher or analysts is most likely going to be misinformed. In the cases of Nigerians under-reporting the insecurity situation in the northern part of Nigeria, the same scenario above applies - a Lagosian for example, does not know the real happenings in the northern part of Nigeria simply because he/she does not live there. Information passes through people with different personalities - some of which are honest, gossips and pathetic liars - so information must be filtered to be accurate. Analysts must be able to sift real information from fake ones to a certain degree - it can never be accurate enough because if for instance, an American researcher goes to Kebbi State in Nigeria to study a group of 1,000 persons who have probably been fed with the same misinformation, the researcher will most likely be misinformed as well therefore, leading to a hallucination that the researcher would export to America. American Lawmakers says insecurity is under-reported by the Nigerian government. Insecurity, killings and crimes around the world are often under-reported and billions of cases cannot be reported at the same time and so many remote locations in the world are far from the public's reach ever to be heard. Immediately, after the statement by Trump on the genocide on Christians in Nigeria, the news became amplified and it created a cult following and in effect, created more terrorist stage performances in current times. This doesn't affirm Nigeria's insecurity, it only affirms Nigerians thirst to blow out of proportion the news or it only heightens certain kinds of news that make the insecurity appear more real than expected which therefore, makes the often disregarded insecurity news more regarded. |

The over 400% increase in the killing of Christians in Nigeria between 2019 and 2022 as highlighted in the report is what the American analysts were responding to. So, it is not all about 'sample population'. |

The 400% increase in killings from 2019-2022 you mentioned is still a sample study and not a wide spread issue. The problem is unique to specific pocket locations in Nigeria. Nevertheless, small number of killings shouldn't be disregarded nor looked down on. ebukal67x: |

The killing of Christians in Nigeria is not a sample population report. Its a reality on ground. |

My article is a subjective understanding of the situation. The genocide is a reality but what we need to understand is if the problem is wide spread in all 36 states of Nigeria or if all muslims in Nigeria believe in the same agenda as the Islamic terrorists. HgAkpobomeEr: |

CORRECTION: My article is a subjective understanding of the situation. The genocide is a reality but what we need to understand is if the problem is wide spread in all 36 states of Nigeria? Nigerian muslims live in harmony with Christians. It is only the extremists that may share the same view with Islamic terrorists. Christian killings should be condemned. PLEASE DISREGARD THE PREVIOUS QUOTE FROM ME. HgAkpobomeEr: |
