President Trump is shutting down Venezuelan airspace “in its entirety” amid a surge in drug trafficking from the South American nation, he announced Saturday morning.

“To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY. Trump wrote in a morning Truth Social post.

“Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

The measure comes just two days after the president said he would begin bombing land-based drug trafficking targets.

“The land is easier, but that’s going to start very soon,” Trump told reporters.

The US has been conducting a sea-focused campaign since September, bombing alleged drug boats originating in Venezuela and other Latin American nations.

Trump claims “poison” trafficking via sea has dropped by 85% since the bombings started, a practice Democrats, scholars and human rights experts have described as extrajudicial executions.

The administration has since carried out at least 21 fatal strikes on the boats.

In one such bombing, the US allegedly killed survivors after bombing a drug boat near Trinidad in a so-called “double tap” strike under orders from Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth to “kill everybody” — which the former Fox News contributor called “fake news.”

Trump spoke with Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro last week and discussed a possible meeting between them — which would mark the first-ever encounter between the authoritarian Venezuelan leader and a US president, the New York Times reported on Friday.

is it not the highest form of madness for citizens to be kidnaping and unaliving his fellow vulnerable citizens, without any form of provocation ?

Which drug trafficking surge? Just looking for excuses to carry out his criminal actions.

Killing people in international waters without evidence of criminality is against international law.
Let's even assume that they are carrying drugs; international law does not permit anyone to just execute people without trial.

Drug trafficking did not surge. He is interested in the assets of Venezuela in the hands of Russia, China and Iran. He wants to start another war. They have cursed them with wars.

About 80% of drugs into US come through the pacific ocean and not through the Caribbean sea.

He can't go through the Pacific ocean because he will have to face China.

Maduro is too soft in my opinion but I stand to be corrected.

Same Trump will pardon a convicted drug criminal while he claims to start a war against drug trafficking.

Why not board the Drug boats with all your Commandos and Special Forces and show the whole world that indeed those boats are drug laden? Why blow them up?

Also, let America excert same pressure on those who take the Drugs in America. When there is no demand, suppliers leave of the trade.

I wish Nigeria can get a no-nonsense leader that will reset everyone's brain. Madness going on in Nigeria is not only about insurgency, every form of illegality like corruption, tapping of electricity illegally, dumping of refuse on the road, tax evation, not obeying traffic rules are categorized as madness, that is when you will know me and you are also culpable.
