You need to consider how Maduro dealt with the opposition candidate to install himself as president. He's a big-time election rigger. A dictator that wants to be a lifetime president in Venezuela. No country is truly an Island. If the UN can pass a resolution that any president or contestant to the presidency that tempers with the electoral system will be booted out of power, it will help sanitize the madness we see today as democracy.

Democracy has been reduced to a charade in so many countries of the world, thereby causing antisocial and antihuman problems. If a country chooses democracy, then she must abide by the tenets of democracy. Don't tell me about the sovereignty of any country. You talk of sovereignty, and some group of hulks will hijack power in a country because they are so powerful and you expect the world to sit and watch? Use Nigeria as a case study. We failed to get it right because of individuals hijacking power under democracy. People hide under democracy to commit the greatest sin against the human race. Too bad.

1. Venezuelan oil has a high sulphur content, which adds significantly to refining costs...which is why if the country want's to make enough money from crude, the oil price has to be above 100 or even 110 dollars per barrel. Even tho they produce more than Nigeria.

2. Also, oil prices have been too low since 2014 (except for a brief peirod of 2021-22, and also in June this year when oil shot up to 150 dollars per barrel for a week, because of Israel v Iran, it might have been higher if Israel had bombed Iranian oil infrastructutre)...so no oil producing country, even the ones like Saudi, are making real real oil money...like when oil was above 145 dollars per barrel in 2008.

3. USA has been self sufficent in oil since at least 2012. It really doesn't need Venezuelan oil
