11 US Warships And 15,000 Troops Now In Caribbean As Venezuela Tension Escalate by RaySimran(op): 2:35pm On Dec 01, 2025
More than 10 US warships, including the country’s largest carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, are bearing down on the Caribbean amid escalating tensions between President Trump and Venezuela.

A Marine Expeditionary Unit capable of an amphibious land invasion has also been deployed as part of efforts to stem the flow of drugs into the US from the socialist country.

“The military’s job is to defend the homeland,” Secretary of the Navy John Phelan told Fox News on Saturday night. “That’s exactly what we’re doing, and we’re using our best assets to defend the homeland.

Drugs kill more Americans than we’ve ever lost in wars,” he said. “So I think at the end of the day, the president has correctly identified this as an attack on the country, which it is.”

Venezuela’s socialist president, Nicolas Maduro, is being blamed for allowing narco vessels to set off from his country for the US.

Among the 11 warships currently in the Caribbean is the USS Ford, which houses the Carrier Strike Group featuring nine carrier air wings, or more than 70 aircraft, including squadrons out of Virginia, Florida and Washington state.

Other ships deployed to the region include the USS Iwo Jamia, a Wasp-class amphibious assault vehicle capable of carrying up to six Harrier II attack aircraft.

The USS Gravely and the USS Stockdale, two naval guided-missile destroyers, are currently operating in the Caribbean along with the larger guided-missile cruisers, the USS Lake Erie and the USS Gettysburg.

Up to 2,200 Marines, based out of Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Base New River in North Carolina, are also stationed in the Caribbean.

In total, around 15,000 troops, including the Marines on ships and about 5,000 personnel at bases in Puerto Rico, are now in the region, the Conversation reported.

Roosevelt Roads naval base in Puerto Rico has been reopened as part of the buildup

Looks like Trump is looking for a regime change, exactly what is really needed right now in Nigeria, for those who are talking about U.S coming to take oil from Venezuela, I'm not ruling that out, but I don't think that's the interest here, ask yourself a country with the largest oil reserves in the world is so poor and also if the oil was so profitable for them, why are the youths more into drug sales than oil?

Here it is:

1. The sulfur content in Venezuelan oil is one of the highest in the world making it harder and more costly to refine, so it is not attractive for buyers in the world like the Nigerian crude oil and some others, you see why it may not really make sense for the U.S to invade them for something that is not rushed after like others.

2. If a government is seen to be complicit in support of terror or drugs that is affecting the U.S directly then that could be another point, I saw some people mentioning Mexico in the other thread, but Mexico has recently improved their crackdown on drug cartels, though a lot of work still needs to be done and also have been partnering with U.S to take down cartels, I don't think it is the same with Venezuelan government.

3. Cartels know that these drugs come with addiction to the users and there are cases where they lure people with samples for free and the addiction starts which causes them to start stealing and wrecking their lives for the supply.

My question to those seeking Maduro to stay in power, I mean what exactly is the benefit of him staying in power while the country keeps sinking and getting poorer, their inflation was so bad at some point, they stopped counting money in supermarkets, they just bring a scale and weigh your money and give you the item you purchase, price of goods were now sold by weight of the money and not the value.

I even watched a prison documentary and if you think Nigerian prison is bad then you need to visit Venezuela, the prisoners carry guns inside the prison, they have their own police, they have their president and even court, prisoners sentence prisoners inside the prison, some prisoners don't want to leave the prison because it is safer for them due to cartel members looking for them to kill outside.

I notice a lot of people not supporting Trump are Tinubu supporters because they don't want same happening in Nigeria to Tinubu who is doing damage to Nigeria.

It's looking like Trump wants to keep their soldiers busy. He will be like, "America cannot be paying all these salaries for you to be just an administrative soldier!"

He should send some to Nigeria to deal with our terrorists and their sympathizers. Those terrorists want to chase Nigerians out of their country!

The convicted felon, who is also a PDFIE, is doing everything to take attention away from his crimes and incompetence by starting another war.

Prices are going up every day, he has not reduced prices as promised, and the Russian war is still one despite promising to stop on day one.
The economy is in shambles, and now we have new graduates with science degrees from prestigious universities in the US who can't get jobs. This has never happened in my almost 40 years of living in the US.

So long as they're engaged in Venezuela, they won't have time for Nigeria.

For those inviting US, do you remember what happened in Iraq/Libya? Naija's case might be worse. . . . God forbid.

What a misplaced priority,is he actually fighting drug lords or he is going for his own selfish interest?
By the way, someone should tell him Nigeria urgently need him here because his treats to Nigerian terrorists only boost their moral, because their activities have somehow increased after the US announced that they are coming.
