I think my package with Speedaf is lost. Last update was 9 days ago. Usually it doesn't stay more than 2 days at DC-LOS.

Yesterday, Monday morning, I went to the post office, furious and ready to pay the ₦166,000 customs duty I had been told to pay on my phone worth ₦235,000. When I spoke with the staff, they were also surprised at the high charge. After some investigation, we discovered that the phone had been wrongly valued at ₦800,000.

After a lot of back-and-forth and consultations with the staff, we proceeded to the regional manager’s office. She made calls to Lagos and appealed the duty charges on my behalf. She assured me she would call me back the next day.

Today, she kept her word and informed me that the charges had been reviewed and reduced to ₦55,000. I paid the corrected duty, collected my phone, and even gave the staff something for their pocket as appreciation.

I was also instructed to write a letter to the General Manager of NIPOST regarding the incident.

You should have contacted seller when you discovered the defect in the product. He might offer for replacement, or at least proffer another solution . But your decision to return the item is not a wise one. Here's why:
1. Returning item to China is not as easy as it sounds (I learnt that Speedaf doesn't accept return on behalf of buyers). You could spend double the amount of the product, and at the end of the day, the item may not get to seller.

2. Unless seller confirms receipt of the item, Aliexpress won't approve your refund. Therfore, if item doesn't get to seller, how would you be refunded?

Next time you're facing similar issue, the best dispute option is " Refund only", even if it warrants that you settle for partial refund which is far better that losing the product and your money completely.

Good day house, one of the items I received was substandard and aliexpress stepped in for me to return the package at the seller expense so I can get a refund, so my question is have anybody been in this situation before and what shipping option did they use? I received the package through speedaf and I am planning of making use of them to return the package. Though I am yet to receive the shipping address which I will be receiving later today or tomorrow

Exactly what I had in mind when I saw the outrageous customs fee the guy was asked to pay. So unfortunate, he isn't lucky! I still got redmi Note 13 delivered through Nipost in January this year, with a payment of 1k handling charge only.

Below is what I normally do when ordering mobile phones from AliExpress, and it has always worked for me:

The first thing I do is to communicate with seller before placing my order. I do this by dropping a message for them, asking for their consent in respect of item declaration. Some will oblique your request, while some won't. If a seller refuses to comply, I look for another store selling the phone .

For those who accept my offer, I inform them to declare the item as "Phone accessories" and not "mobile phone". This is to avoid suspicion (you know, the phrase "mobile phone" alone could arouse curiosity from anybody who sees the parcel). I learnt that some guys even have theirs declared "MP4 player."

Secondly, I tell them to reduce the price to be quoted on the parcel. For instance, an item of $150 is declared as $50 or $60. This is because the parcel contains phone accessories😜!

By this strategy, I've had quite a number of mobile phones delivered to me through Nipost without stress. However, I won't rule out the fact that "mother luck" too has its role to play in all the scenarios.

I got my DJI drone delivered by NIPost in less than two months. An experienced seller will know how to declare the item for customs.

So you mean your package has been at our local airport since 5th of September? You didn't check the date interval? They are just a mess. Unfortunately its actually a matter of luck buying from AliExpress. You never can tell which type of seller or shipping method unless its a choice sale then your sure it is Speedaf.

That's not why though. Stores aren't necessarily in charge of shipping items. I had chatted the store to ask that they ship specifically with Speedaf but they said AliExpress handles the shipping. For context, I paid $8 to ship my parcel but still experiencing this delay.

It appears only choice items gets shipped through Speedaf, while AliExpress standard shipping is either through Malaysia Post, Netherland Post or any of the other more expensive courier companies.

That courier service na very “anyhow “ ….. (My last experience with them was something else) I got really angry when Temu handed my package to them, I told them next time they ship my items with them, that I will cancel the order immediately.

The next time , they got it shipped with GIG.

I dunno if Speedaf is getting over stressed with delivery nowadays that they are opting for these lazy courier services

Normally, refund for undelivered items is alway possible at the end of "buyers' protection period". Therefore, as long as the protection period is still active, any refund request made would be declined by Aliexpress.

The only exception to this (there could be more) is when items are returned to origin. Here, you may have to open dispute in respect of such item — without waiting for expiration of the PP — and support your claims with pics of the tracking information as evidence. Your refund would be issued without delay!

Buying any non-china phone from aliexpress is risky. First you can't get it new. You can only get it as refurbished no matter what the seller claims. And since the phone is not made in China, parts won't be as available as China phones, so they tend to cut a lot of corners in the refurbishment.
I once bought on LG v60 and it turned out to be a Frankenstein of different models of v60. Phone takes about 2min to identify Sim. GPS signal was poor. Fingerprint sensor could unlock with you bumbum. I made a video of all the problems and opened dispute. I got about 50% refund. I used the refund to order for the correct parts and fixed all the problems.
I'm sure your phone is probably missing some antenna.
At this point, that phone is just a big risk. Returning it is possible, but your nearest post office will explain better.
Keeping it will involve opening it to see what is missing. If you are luck, it will be an easy fix.
The decision is yours.

Depends on the order type (Bundle, Choice, or Typical) and merchant. Most merchants ship using the AliExpress standard shipping. Ask the seller for a definite answer, but be careful not to lose your buyer's protection.

The AliExpress review system is totally broken now.
I ordered a charger with a 4.9 rating during the 11/11 sales. I clicked on the same charger and discovered that the rating is now 4.6.
I got curious and started running through the reviews, then I realised that a lot of 1-star reviews that weren't present when I ordered the product had suddenly appeared. Looking at the dates that the reviews were posted, they were apparently hidden during the 11/11 sales, considering that I took my time to go through the 1 star reviews before ordering and I didn't see anything of such.

This is another good example.
The first screenshot is the advertised product ( 90 degree cables) while the second one contains the reviews. It's obvious that the cables are not the same
