Did you, at least, make certain to get a contract clearly stating the terms and conditions of this deal, so that the person cannot renege on the agreement afterwards?

You can do it. I perceive your goal is about getting the money and not do quit smoking weed.
Well there is no shortcut to it.
Just avoid it. Don't even go near where you will perceive the smell of weed and might be tempted to take a pull.
If you can go two weeks. Your next target should be to go 4 weeks( that is if you lookingto quit smoking too, then go 3 and 6 months) .... don't forget to drink plenty water while at it.
