The Borno State Police Command has helped a woman residing in the Mallam Fatori area recover gold worth ₦23.6 million that she buried in sand while escaping a Boko Haram attack 15 years ago.

In a statement on Monday, the Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Nahum Daso, said the state police commissioner, Naziru Abdulmajid, commended the Divisional Police Officer of Mallam Fatori and his team for their exemplary professionalism and integrity.

It read, “The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Police Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, PSC, commended the Divisional Police Officer of Mallam Fatori Division and his team for their exemplary professionalism and integrity in recovering valuable property belonging to a female resident of the community.

The woman, who fled Mallam Fatori during a Boko Haram attack 15 years ago, recently returned and sought police assistance to retrieve items she had buried in the sand while escaping the incident,” he noted.

Daso said that through diligent and coordinated efforts, the officers successfully recovered “22 cc of gold valued at approximately ₦20 million, as well as a gold bracelet with chain worth ₦3.6 million.”

He further stated that the Commissioner praised the officers for their honesty, dedication, and service, noting that their actions reflect the core values of the Nigeria Police Force and further strengthen public confidence in law enforcement.

“CP Naziru Abdulmajid reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to continue supporting and cooperating with the police for enhanced security across the state,” Daso added.

23 million naira...? shocked

Look worthless like some ancient bronze coins.

I can never understand the value people place on jewelry.

I can invest in gold not because it looks appealing to me but because I understand it's value and worth.

She tried for being able to identify where she buried it after 15 years. Reminds me of that movie blood diamonds!

Good end to an exploit that may have easily gone south.

I'm happy she could recover her valuables and survived the escape.

Police extrajudicial killings and the culture of impunity are the root of causes of the war today.

The police nor politicians who orchestrated the whole thing were never prosecuted for the hundreds of their members killed including their leader.

Boko Haram demanded justice but never received it.

That woman really tried...22k,is the second highest quality of gold in the world. 91.9 percent gold is what that woman is holding there.

Typical house wives in the north who know the value of holding gold and using it when they are in serious financial needs.

You keep lying to yourselves

When ENDSARS protest occured during Buhari admin what did the entire core northern region do?

They did nothing, they were silent , they were even counter protesting at apoint

They said the opposition wanted to use the protest to remove their son

You can imagine

Please say something else.

Now that you guys have allowed Boko haram to grow and fester who has suffered the most, who is still suffering?

If not that Southwest and whiteman and the "federal govt" magnanimity, generosity and love for you guys ehn,? Your region is just like a pampered entitled overfed individual.

How ironic! The Boko Boys — they who claim their God is all-knowing but fight for him like kids defending their drunkard father — would never forgive this woman. This is a rare element humans have biasedly placed a huge value on, this is something that could have advanced their fight for God.

How wicked, heartless, and sinful can someone be to hide something of that value from the Almighty's soldiers?!

22k is about 182,000 naira there or so. If those coins are solid enough, it could weigh up to the 110grams. Plus the other one which will make sense for the whole thing to amount up to that quotation.. Even 11gram pendant alone of 18k at 143k runs into about 1.6m and that's just for a simple Jesus cross piece pendant

My comment was trying to distinguish between inherent worth/value and material worth/value.

The sentimental-emotional, cultural, aesthetic value people attach to gold and the material or monetary value.

In other words I can invest in gold not because I find it attractive or holds any aesthetic value to me as some people do but because of the monetary value it holds being that it can be exchanged for money etc!

I was busy responding to your comment. I no know say you got ulterior motive for asking. Like say I see this one before I no go even bother to explain.

The problem is that some of you like the guy you are shining teeth with are just too toxic and would always look for reasons to be toxic and hateful no matter what.

Because that's just who and what you are. Toxic and hateful people. Your kinda are plenty here.

No one is commenting for likes. I'm sure some people understood the comment I made just the way it was.

You people should stop projecting your toxic mentality on others!

Gold has been a store of value for thousands of years.

It is currently trading at over $4,000 per Troy Ounce from slightly over $2,000 early this year while your BTC has lost and will continue to lose value.

That woman is more financially savvy than you can ever be.
