Fremlin:It was just another day for us. No big deal at stamford bridge. Arsenal remain at the top. But chelsea were fortunate to get a draw. It's worth celebrating indeed. ![]() |

Getbetter:Saying Rice was “a major thorn for James and Enzo” when Arsenal already had a one-man advantage is actually the lowest defence take I have ever heard. The moment Caicedo got sent off, Rice disappeared from the midfield battles. Instead of using the extra man to dictate the game, he hid behind sideways passes and empty running. You don’t call someone a midfield general or a Senoir man in his role, when the opponents are down to 10 men and he still can’t use that advantage. A real senior man doesn’t vanish when the advantage turns tactical. Rice was nowhere when it was time to step up. And can you explain this, how does a player who “is not even a midfielder” get inverted into midfield, play almost the entire match with one man down, and still carry extra defensive duties, and still walk away with Man of the Match award in the same midfield role where your “Senoir man” was standing? Reece James was doing a job outside his natural role, under pressure, and still controlled key midfield moments better than Rice with one man down. In that match, If Rice was truly the midfield commander as you claim, the award wouldn’t be sitting on James’ table. Stop mistaking participation for dominance. |

Trevor012:You're very correct. Some Arsenal fans were very disappointed in Arteta for failing to spot this. |

MorataFC:What's disturbing is how you find it hard to read the game well. It's wise if you put sentiments apart during football argument. Truth... My boys were unable to dictate the game as expected. Our attack was poor, and the Plan B 5 & 6 defence we used was struggling. This put higher pressure in midfield for Declan Rice, as the General he is. Looking at the situation, this was not a game for him to show his usual superiority over Caicedo, Enzo and James. What's left for him was to ensure the midfield didn't collapse completely. He was doing more of defensive work that day. And he did that well. You might find it hard to notice though. He was no flop that day. He just didn't get players at their best to connect and roll with. Look at when Odegaard came in to join him in midfield. The tempo changed quickly. He was among those who ensured you didn't get all 3 points that day. Amongst other, he's enough as a player to put Chelsea in her place. For James, days like this occasionally do happen. Rice has won the award many times against tough opponents, consistently playing very impressively. So nothing surprising here. You should be more concerned about if the accolades will be consistent for him in more matches with Arsenal and others. |

| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Sportsweb: 4:09pm On Dec 02, 2025 |
AirBere:Maresca knows why he's doing.. didn't you watch Tottenham game. Once arsenal position for short corner, those attackers will fall back to defence. The idea is to stop the opponent from making long throw and long corners. I remembered when Maresca first used it, Tottenham had to quickly adjust from long throw to short throws |

| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by AirBere: 4:30pm On Dec 02, 2025 |
Sportsweb:Yeah obviously I praised him for the tactics. But you know that there's no invincible tactics in football. Even Pep has been found out many times and had to adjust. Same way Maresca found out Arteta with the corner routine. I was just echoing that short corners is one way of countering that tactics. |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Sportsweb: 4:41pm On Dec 02, 2025 |
AirBere:every tactics has the bad side. They will have to play that short corner very fast and take Chelsea players unaware. Once a player starts going closer for the short corner, those 3 player waiting for counter will return back. That's was what happened vs Tottenham long throw and corners in that derby. |

| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by AirBere: 5:43pm On Dec 02, 2025 |
Sportsweb:Exactly. I think we're saying same thing. Once a team takes a short corner and does it very fast resulting in a goal, if it happens more than once it'll be termed as "found out tactics". The tactics obviously worked against Arsenal and Spurs so should continue. I mean no need fixing what's not broken. |
| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Sportsweb: 6:18pm On Dec 02, 2025 |
AirBere:Exactly. It's a smart counter tactic against this haram clubs. I still don't know why Maresca don't want to join these haram clubs. Even Liverpool did long throws last game vs West Ham |

Caicedobets:U are blaming a wrong person... It was ur Caicedo's job to mark Merino but unfortunately he marked poorly and got himself a red card puting extra pressure on all players,,we can't blame fofana for the equalizer,,,I actually blame Delap for his poor attitude to ball recovery after losing d ball.. he was d last Chelsea player with d ball b4 arsenal took possession |
