Muslim lady tackles Nigerian skit makers for using Hausa language and Islamic dressing to portray criminals

A Muslim lady has called out some Nigerian content creators over a growing trend she says is dangerous, unfair and damaging to an entire community.

According to her, the constant use of Hausa language, hijabs, jalabias, turbans and Islamic imagery in skits to represent bandits or criminals is not “content” — it is profiling, and it has real-life consequences.

She warned that many people around the world who do not understand Nigeria may end up believing that every Hausa speaker, every Northerner and every Muslim is tied to crime — a stereotype she says is harmful and irresponsible.

She added that Northern Nigerians already deal with unfair labels like “illiterate” or “backward,” and content creators are now “adding salt to their wound” by turning an entire culture and religion into a joke.

Her message was firm:

Criminals have no tribe, no religion, no language — bandits and kidnappers are not cultural representatives. They are simply criminals.

She urged creators to stop using Hausa and Muslim identities as props for crime-related skits, stressing that it puts innocent people at risk, affects how they are treated abroad and fuels bias in workplaces and everyday life.

She should disprove what the content creators are making. Almost all Bandits are Northerns, they are all Muslims, they are mostly illiterates and there is extreme backwards in human and capital development in the Northern region than other regions.

What she should channel her energy and time on is how Northern leaders will truly wake up from their slumber and truly address Banditry, Illiteracy, extreme backwardness and poverty in their region.

In an alternate reality wherein southern Nigeria are Muslims majority and Northern Nigeria are christian majority, the Southern Muslim would still behave exactly the same way and be a yoke on the Northern Christian.

I remember one day in Lagos...
I was out drinking beer and straight flexing on my super black jalabia from Dubai, we were at a bar on the street so that means anybody passing can see those in the bar. Na so those alfa and their jobless boys come begin dey forment trouble saying I must remove the jalabia.
