Inflation has improved, GDP growth is up, the trade balance is strongly positive, the exchange rate is stabilizing and appreciating, and both PMI and the NGX are rising. If you have data that says otherwise, bring it.

Students, farmers, youth corpers, transporters, traders, security men, artisans etc. are dying in their thousands on Nigeria's highways and in her towns and villages...but you say nearly 100% of Nigerians are unaffected. Have you done a fact check on vehicle traffic from motor parks in this country? Do you know how much transport volumes declined under Buhari and now under BAT?

Like I always say, we will all drink from this bitter cup, Those of you downplaying these aberrations will not escape the devourer when it comes.

The implications are more than huge. In Nigeria today, both formal and informal sector businesses are scaling down and playing it safe - nobody wants to take risks that could very well likely end in early death for the business person and ultimately his business.

Four years ago I used to waybill items to other states without any lengthy delays. These days, the items sit for up to a week, especially if the destination is remote. Reason? Much lower passenger traffic. Nobody wants to put himself on the roads these days.

Only those who have passed through the eye of the storm can relate. Have any of your relatives, associates etc. been abducted by terrorists before? Mine have...(on this same dangerous stretch of road that is in the news now) and I can assure you it is an experience you do not want to live through. Have you felt the frustration when negotiations between the abductors and the family/friends of the victims hit a rough patch? As you know, some of these criminals are not bluffing. They will kill their victims and still collect ransom payments...and nothing will happen.

Like I said earlier, some of these decisions have already been made on an individual level. Several associates, friends etc. I know have decided they will not be travelling for Christmas this year - something they usually do every other year at least.

The blame for the chaos should be laid where it belongs: squarely at BAT'S feet. His indecision and cruel indifference brought us to where we are now. It has nothing to do with the opposition and they shouldn't be the focus - because they owe Nigerians nothing. They aren't in charge of the country - but BAT is.

There is something in the events of the last one month which isn't getting the attention it deserves: how can it be that a leader studiously ignores the prolonged suffering of his own countrymen...and decides to act only after being insulted and called out by the leader of another country?
