He has tried severally to win a gubernatorial seat in Adamawa across different parties and has been unsuccessful. He was even defeated by a female collusus, Binani, in his last outing. That's not the credential of a presidential candidate even though he has used his position to scheme out perceived rivals like Elrufai.

IMO, Kwankwaso is the next most influential northern politician after Atiku. Ribadu has always been Tinubu's man for a reason I don't know, but he has no political influence in the north.
